Jeff and his staff have done an excellent job in providing our members and guests with playing conditions that are second to none. Personally I have had friends from other local clubs that have played in our Member/Guest and the Pro-Am we hosted that raved about our course conditions. This is positive in that members of other clubs acknowledge the efforts of our staff and course conditions. Member Rounds For the months of April & May, our member rounds were ahead of the year to date numbers when compared to 2018. For the month of June, our member rounds were down 212 when compared to June of 2018. That placed our year to date number member rounds down by 146 when compared to year to date through June of 2018. We had a really strong July when looking at our member rounds. Our member rounds for the month of July were up by 255 rounds when compared to July of 2018. That places our member rounds for the year up by 109. Way to go everyone!! Let’s do the same for August and September. You can do it. Membership As of August 5, 2019, we have 152 memberships representing 172 members. This is fairly consistent with the 2018 member numbers. At the end of the 2018 season, we had 164 memberships representing 186 members. The 2018 end of season numbers included the 23 fall membership specials. Therefore, we will be aggressive in our pursuit to gain the same or more amount of fall specials as was realized in 2018. Kyle and I have two (2) separate initiatives that will help. August 2019

Well it looks like the weather is finally breaking as August roles around. Jeff and his staff have done an excellent job in providing our members and guests with playing conditions that are second to none. Personally I have had friends from other local clubs that have played in our Member/Guest and the Pro-Am we hosted that raved about our course conditions. Member Rounds

For the months of April & May, our member rounds were ahead of the year to date numbers when compared to 2018. COURSE AND PROPERTY IMPROVEMENTS

We are very fortunate at Pocono Farms to have a pro-active Board of Directors and golf committee. Each

year, we strive to re-invest in the course, facilities, and equipment, to continue to add value to the entire community and Country Club experience at Pocono Farms.

2019 is no different. In the Spring, we were able to continue with our “tree removal” project through hole

#12. And how good does #12 look? To not let an opportunity go to waste, the Board approved additional money at

their June meeting in order for us to continue with the tree removal in the fall of 2019 instead of waiting until the spring of 2020.

Other projects that have been completed in 2019 so far:

The paving of the entrance to the #5 tee box

Clean up, soil, and seed on each side of the putting green steps

New to us carts and beverage cart

Painting of the Pro shop, Clubhouse, and the Community/Fitness Center

Renovation to the outside bathrooms on the end of the Clubhouse

New food & beverage building at the lake for beach events

Canopy repair to its original length

Still to come:

Landscaping in front of the Clubhouse

We have made ordering from the halfway house easier for you this year. We have placed signs in the carts listing the phone number to call from your phone or you can use the call box, with menu attached, at the 9th tee.

When you make the turn, your order will be ready. How convenient is that? And it may help with the pace of play.

GOLF COMMITTEE

The golf committee plays a vital role in our golf operations. They help in planning tournaments, managing handicaps, reviewing formats, policy review, etc. Committee applications are due by mid-August so that the board can appoint the committee members at its August 2019 Board of Directors meeting. The committee term runs from September through August of each year. If you are interested, please fill out an application and drop it off at the Administration office. A special thanks needs to go out to the Monday morning crew!! These volunteer members donate their time, under Jeff’s supervision, and the leadership of Jim Ribardo, to make many vast improvements along the tree lines and other areas of the course. This is especially true on hole #17 this year. Great work by all and thank you to all that help out.

Did you know that 2019 marks the 16th year of the golf scholarship awards? In those 16 years, over $55,500.00 has been awarded to 45 deserving seniors of Pocono Farms. That is an astounding number. Donations to the scholarship fund are supported through various golf outings. The largest contributor to this fund is the Denny Pig Roast. Thank you to Mr. Bob Denny and those that support his cause. The golf scholarship fund currently sits at over $100,000.00. 2019 also marks the final year of the 10 year commitment of the Bob Stephens Memorial golf scholarship. Thank you to Marianne and the Stephens family for their support of this scholarship in Bob’s memory.

FALL SPECIAL INITIATIVES

As mentioned earlier, we have two initiatives this year. They are: When a potential member plays under our promotional opportunity through August 15th, they earn

a chance to enter to win a fall golf membership. For existing members, each referral that you have that joins as a fall special, provides you one en-

try to win a set of wedges. They must join before August 15th as well.

Inquire at the pro shop for details.
