Dear Aspirants,This is the informationage and knowledge hasno limit. Gone are thedays when people usedto depend solely onlibraries and books togain knowledge. Themeans of procuringknowledge andaccessing informationhas undergone a seachange with the adventof computers, internetand smart phones. Theinternet is the biggestlibrary ever created in human history andseemingly presents itself as an unlimited and evergrowing store of knowledge and information. So when my team approached me with the ideaof a current affairs magazine of ARIFIN thefirst question I asked myself was why? Whatdifference can we make? There are the news papers, a plethora of similarnational level magazines and of course theinternet which serve the purpose already. The reason I gave my nod was simple.
(1) With so much of information around, there is the problem of overload; I believethere is still a gap to be bridged when itcomes to providing precise, succinct andrelevant information.
(2) It need not be a mere current affairsmagazine but rather it can be a holisticsupport system for competitive Exampreparation with question banks, tips andtricks , concepts and practice exercises, general awareness, traditional GK andmore such similar features
Hence, the result is this magazine whoseeditorial team is a blend of youth, energy, knowledge and experience. As explained earlier,I promise my readers two things:
(1) This is not going to be just anothermagazine. This will be a magazine witha difference.
(2) With each new issue, the magazine willget better and better with new andinnovative features,.
So, watch out, enjoy and benefit!!

One fine morning a gentleman rang up a doctor and said – “Sir, my wife is having severe stomach ache, could you suggest some medicines?” The Doctor replied – “Could you get her along to my clinic so thatI can do a preliminary check-up before I prescribe some medicines?” The person replied – “That isabsolutely not needed Sir. I know it is a case of severe acidity/gastritis. You suggest some medicines; Iwill note them down and get it from the nearest pharmacy.” To this doctor replied – “I am sorry gentleman,I do not prescribe any medicine without seeing my patient. I am sorry again.” The person continued –“But doctor I know it is a case of severe acidity/gastritis. Why should I unnecessary come along withher to the clinic? You can suggest some medicines over the telephone itself.” This time the doctor wasirritated and said – “Look gentleman, you have to get her to the clinic anyhow. Am I the doctor or you?”The gentleman argued no further and visited the clinic immediately with his wife. The doctor did athorough check-up. It was not a acidity/gastritis case. She has severe problems with her appendix thatneeded to be operated upon immediately. On getting the person’s approval, the doctor went with theoperation and she was perfectly alright. After a few days, she was discharged from the clinic.A few months later, the same gentleman called up the doctor again and said – “Sir, my wife is havingsevere stomach ache. Could you keep your operation theatre ready? The Doctor replied – “Could youget her along to my clinic so that I can do a preliminary check-up before I prescribe some curativemeasures?” The person replied – “That is absolutely not needed Sir. I know it is a case of appendicitis. You did the same thing last time when I had visited your clinic. You keep your operation table ready. Getready for the surgery. I am getting her along”. The doctor was annoyed and said – “I will do a preliminarycheck-up before I decide the course of action. Am I the doctor or you? The doctor continued – “Andmoreover gentleman, previously she had appendicitis and I had removed the appendix. So there is nochance of her having the same problem again, as a person has only ONE appendix and I have personallyremoved that in her last visit.”To this the gentleman fell silent for a while and replied – “Sir, a person cannot have two appendixes. Itotally agree to your point. But a person can have two wives right?”LESSON: Assumptions trouble you at times. Be smart in making them.
