Take a drive to count how many you find. First Baptist Church members park in the east parking lot to listen to Pastor Caple’s ser- mon by FM Transmitter Sunday, April 19. Photo by John Groves Caple gave his sermon on FM 88.1. Minus a few first time technical glitches, it came off like a charm, every person who sat in the privacy of their vehicles, was able to listen to the sermon. The church mem- bers could see their fellow mem- bers and wave at them or say a few words from a safe distance. It was just the right medicine for every- one, as most people are beginning to have the effects of “Cabin Fever” or basically, tired of being cooped up in the house. Pastor Caple said the hardest thing to not have is that physical in- teraction we all thrive on and crave as human beings. He also said our society has a deep fear of this virus and is afraid to get out among oth- ers because they believe they might become a victim. If you watch the news every night you will see the death rate increase rapidly in other states such as New York and other locations. It makes you feel that catching the virus is just right around the corner and the unknown always causes fear. However, thou- sands have recovered from the virus. I asked Pastor Caple what kind of impact this virus was having on the monetary stability of the churches. Pastor Caple said we have and will, take a hit on contri- butions or tithing. He went on to say that a donation canister each Sunday, has been put up at the drive thru under the awning which allows people to get out and put their con- tribution into the canister after the sermon. Or, people can mail their tithes to First Baptist church, PO Box 269, Dixon MO 65459. Another method Pastor Caple and the congregation set up for its members to give tithes is through a new system called “Push Pay” which allows the members to attach an app. to their phones and desig- nate how much they are giving and for what if any certain subject such as an example, the Lottie Moon Of- fering. Pastor Caple said since a signif- icant number of people are now out of work, their ability to make con- tributions have been greatly re- duced or completely discontinued. This obviously has a profound im- pact on the bottom line of the church. Pastor Caple said, “We will weather this storm called the virus and God will make things right.” We have to place our faith in him and know it is his master plan. Pastor Caple said many people have turned to religion seeking an- swers through their new found or regained faith. You can see it every day in the news media where peo- ple are engaging in prayer and giv- ing thanks for small miracles. Pastor Caple went on to say, “The virus has even bolstered my faith and has given me more belief as the bible has told us of past plagues and disasters.” I then asked him what if any- thing has caused him to test or lose his faith. Pastor Caple said he has not lost faith in God but has lost faith in some of the government at the state level due to the constraints of freedom. He said he has more faith in people as a whole and the small businesses by the way of their actions to keep going in these trying times. I asked Pastor Caple what impact the virus has had on him. He said the virus makes him intent on car- ing for the basics of food and the well being of he and his immediate family in addition to his church family, Pastor Caple said he is con- cerned his parishioners will lose that connection between them and the church. He said depression can cause people to question their faith and it is his job to keep all of his church family connected and in time this will pass and the church will gather again to worship God in his house. Pastor Caple wants everyone to know he will be con- ducting a sermon every Sunday on the FM Transmitter at 11:00 a.m. and all are welcome to come. It should be noted that the First Baptist Church is but one church in the local area that is conducting similar or same methods of getting out the word of God to their flock. Those Pastors are to be com- mended for their efforts to maintain unity within the religious circle of churches in the area. Op-Ed Reason for Suing Maries County Monday, Anne and I sued our own county. Here's why: The fear of Covid 19 has re- sulted in unprecedented actions on all levels of government. The federal government is spending trillions of dollars they don't have. State governments have declared states of emergency that give their governors the sort of powers we criticize 3rd world leaders for using -- we even send troops into those countries to effect "regime change," and secure for those peo- ple "democracy." And all over Missouri local gov- ernments are ignoring some of the basic tenants of a republic -- the idea that the people are ultimately in control and that their representa- tives can only act in the the light of day (sunshine) in meetings open to the public where the People have an opportunity to exercise their 1st Amendment right to petition the government. All over Missouri, local govern- ments are ignoring Chapter 610 of our state's revised statutes, the "Sunshine Law," and holding meet- ings closed to the public. Such is the case with the Maries County Commission. That would be bad enough under normal circumstances, but during the Covid 19 scare these county commissions and city councils are being courted by health department bureaucrats with tunnel vision. All the bureaucrats see is minimizing Covid 19 infections. They seem not to consider principles of liberty and economics and the Rule of Law. The results are local officials, who are usually good people doing a good job at what they were elected to do, WAY outside their wheelhouse. With the one-sided urging of health department bu- reaucrats, they have been passing ordinances and issuing orders that even 6 months ago we would have thought was the work of banana re- public dictators. Maries County is a small county. We are all neighbors, and it's a hard thing to sue your neighbors. The fact is, though, Anne and I are not suing our neighbors, we are suing public officials FOR THE BENE- FIT of our neighbors and our pos- terity. We are suing because we think it is every generation's job to keep the spirit of the Declaration of Inde- pendence alive. Our forefathers had this com- plaint about King George in the 4th Grievance of the Declaration: "He has called together legisla- tive bodies at places unusual, un- comfortable, and distant from the depository of their Public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures." It was the King's intent to thwart representative governance. Our forefathers thought that was impor- tant enough to go to war over. Anne and I think it is important enough to go to court over. Keep an eye out, I think you will be seeing a LOT of legal and polit- ical action to rein in officials who have lost their way or failed in their responsibility to support the Con- stitution. You can follow this case on the CaseNet website. The case number 20MS-CC00027. Happy 84th Birthday Rosalyn We Love You!

Op-Ed Reason for Suing Maries County

Monday, Anne and I sued ourown county. Here's why:

The fear of Covid 19 has re-sulted in unprecedented actions onall levels of government.

The federal government isspending trillions of dollars theydon't have.

State governments have declaredstates of emergency that give theirgovernors the sort of powers wecriticize 3rd world leaders for using-- we even send troops into thosecountries to effect "regimechange," and secure for those peo-ple "democracy."
