From Nature: Post-Impressionist Landscapes and Still Lifes While Fauvism only lasted for a few years, the audacious use of strong colours by its painters was instrumental in liberating future generations of artists to explore possibilities both in figuration and abstraction. The present selection of works includes paintings by artists who followed in the footsteps of Matisse, Derain and Gauguin: figurative paintings where technique follows colour, and colour works so as to elicit emotions in the viewer. These paintings are richly decorative and sumptuous – they are also proof of the artists’ own visual enjoyment of nature and its satisfying harmonies. All works are for sale
