Today, Tata Structura is enhancing its portfolio by introducing a wide a range

of plate fabricated I & H sections for medium & heavy load bearing applications

These I & H sections are are equivalent to universal beams and universal column sections which are manufactured at the state of the art manufacturing facility at Jamshedphur.

ManufacturingProcess The manufacturing process comprises the following steps

One of the �ange plate is �llet welded to the web on both the sides through an Automated Submerged Arc welding process. Then the process is repeated for the other �ange plate.

AUTOMATED SUBMERGED ARC WELDING PROCESS

Once completed, the sections are t h e n p a s s e d t h r o u g h a straightener to achieve a high degree of straightness .

A rigorous quality test is conducted at each stage of the manufacturing process which are done to ensure the following.

For the welded sections, the weld line becomes a critical area, so a number of NDT tests are done to ensure its quality.

Three (3) High quality HR plates from Tata Steel are cut to the desired size(length and width) using a high precision CNC plasma cutting machine. These plates form the web and 2 �anges of the I or H sections.

CNC PLASMA CUTTING MACHINE

These processes are done with l e a s t m a n u a l i n t e r v e n t i o n ensuring a high degree of quality control.

The raw material plates are sourced with proper TCs and random quality tests are done to check their mechanical and chemical properties for each lot.
