Poland’s lublin Coal Basin has been recognised as a significant future producer of coal on regional, national, and international scales. Austra-lian junior Prairie Mining ltd have acquired prime assets in the region and are looking to develop a high quality, large scale, underground coal mine. Royal HaskoningDHV have been commissioned to undertake technical aspects of the current Preliminary Feasibility Study, including estimation and certification of coal Resources (quantity and quality), development of the Coal Handling Preparation Plant and processing facilities, and design of the mine’s surface infrastructure.The team is also providing advice to Prairie Mining regarding longer term development of the project, including exploration works and infill drilling planned for 2015.

Royal HaskoningDHV currently provide ongoing technical advice to the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC). AFC is an Africa-focused infrastructure financier with several focus sectors, including oil and gas, mining, trans-port and power.

Following initial work undertaking a high level mineral commodity and country review, the RHDHV mining team recommended a number of potential assets for further investigation. AFC continue to provide com-panies and projects for review, with Royal HaskoningDHV’s role to assess each project as a potential investment. Recently the team undertook a site visit and due diligence on a copper cobalt project in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The Ventersburg Project is a prospective gold mine located in the Matjhabeng region of the Free State Province in South Africa. gold One is a mining group focused on the development and mining of low technical risk, high margin precious metal resources.

Royal HaskoningDHV undertook both the Prefeasibility and Definitive Feasibility Studies for the entire proposed Ventersburg mining operation. The work included: the mine design and mining method selection, design and costing of all surface and underground infrastructure, de-velopment of construction and production schedules, and the technical and financial assessment of the viability of the mine, including cost and cash flow modelling. Subse-quent to this work, Royal HaskoningDHV produced an nI 43-101 document for the Ventersburg Project.

Royal HaskoningDHV recently assisted gold One with an internal review of the Modder East Operation with a view to optimising profitability and removing capacity con-straints. We are currently assisting gold One in their as-sessment of the Modder East ore extension project.

PT. Semen gresik (Persero) Tbk (Sgg) is the largest cement producing company in Southeast Asia with exciting ambitions for the future. Sgg developed two new cement plants in Indonesia - one in Tuban, East Java, and one in Tonasa, South Sulawesi. Both plants were built on challenging brownfield sites, with each location expected to produce 2.5 million tons capacity annually.

Working with Sgg as the primary project lead and main contractor, Royal HaskoningDHV designed and imple-mented an effective project management strategy for the entire project across both sites.
