The Tale of Innocent Imani is a rare fusion of poetry and prose, whose setting begins during the idyllic pre-colonial situation, on to the turmoil of change that characterizes the colonial period and the subsequent daunting task of nation building.
Born in colonial times in a tiny village, Innocent Imani struggles to emerge as a useful player in the larger scheme of things….
Drawn from rich Abagusii folklore and wisdom, The Tale of Innocent Imani is only second to the Okot P’Bitek’s famed Song of Lawino. This may well be Gideon Nyakiongora’s own rendition of a new epic song.
The author currently works as a tax consultant in his own firm. He worked as a tax assessor for 33 years and retired from the Kenya Revenue Authority in 2006. He holds a Bachelors degree in Economics and Literature from the University of Nairobi, 1974, and has trained as an accountant and tax administrator at the Kenya Institute of Administration. Mr Nyakiongora is involved in Christian missions and interaction; he enjoys football and loves God.He is also the author of Set the Last Captives Free, published by Canon Literature Media.
