Topic: From Cells to Human Body

By the end of the lesson you will be able to: identify the levels of organization in human

organism. analyze the embryonic source of all cells of the

body. know the vocabulary related to “from Cells to

Levels of organization

The structural, functional and biological unit of allorganisms.

group of biological cells that perform a similar function.

an electrically neutral group of two or more atoms held together by chemical bonds.

Collection of tissues joined that performs a specific function.

A group of organs that work together to carry out a particular task.

a living form with functions.

Humans are collections of specialized cells that work together.

These cells allow you to do everything from lifting a glass, to learning people’s names, to maintaining your body temperature on a cold day.

These cells arise from a single cell, The zygote, which is formed by the union of an egg and sperm. The zygote divides and differentiates into more than 260 different types of human cells.

The Primary Germ Layers

The Three Primary Germ Layers

The ectoderm (outside layer) the mesoderm. middle layerthe endoderm(inside

layer of the embryo (until about eight weeks

after fertilization) in its gastrula stage). The embryonic

source of all cells of the body, which comprise the many kinds of specialized cells are in place at the end of gastrulation.

HOMEWORK

Research Information

Make a list of the cells that are derived primarily from endoderm, mesoderm and ectoderm.

Don’t forget to paste or draw images in your notebook.
