You can be a part of the study-abroad group that spends three weeks in Scotland visiting sites important to the development and expression of Scotland’s young adult and children’s literature from Beatrix Potter’s Peter Rabbit to J. K. Rowling’s Harry PotterWant to know/see where Beatrix Potter got her inspiration for Peter Rabbit? Travel to see the Scotland of Mary Queen of Scots? See where J. K. Rowling wrote her first Harry Potter book? See the wonderful illustrations of early picture books? As we travel to Scotland, we will observe firsthand the settings for some of the best loved children’s literature in the world. Reading from Beatrix Potter, Barrie, Lewis and Rowling, viewing these settings and experiencing the culture will provide you with the opportunity to understand this great literature in a unique way. Prerequisite: completion of lower division English/compositionrequirements

Accommodations and MealsParticipants in the Scotland adventure will be lodged in dormitories, budget accommodations and hotels. The experience is based primarily on double occupancy with occasional use of multi-bed rooms. Single rooms may be available at an additional cost. At least one daily meal is included in the cost of the program.

The $4,295 fee includes health insurance, round-trip transportation from designated U. S. cities, coach transportationthroughout the program, accommodations, daily breakfast, most program excursions, airport transfers and some meals in addition to breakfast.

Fees and Payment ScheduleA $200 deposit is due at the time of application. A first payment of $1,900 (in addition to the $200 deposit) to cover costs of airline ticket and deposits on arrangements in Scotland is due by February 27, 2009. The final payment of is due no later than April 17, 2009. Students interested should apply well in advance of the February deadline. Priority is given to early applicants. Students who are accepted into the program will receive course confirmation sometime in mid March. Make out your deposit and payment checks to CCSA. Deposits and payments should be taken to your CCSA campus representative. Some scholarship funding may be available through your campus.
