II Chronicles 15:7 “But you, be strong and do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded!” Have you ever thought that your life story is written on your hands? When I look at my hands, I see callouses from years of farming and outdoor activity. I see a few wrinkles that indicate years of life experience. When I was younger, I used my hands to stop me as I ran through a glass door, and consequently, I have scars along my hand and wrist and a thumb that does not function properly. Mostly, though, I see my father’s hands and the lessons about the Lord, family, and life that he has taught me. Our hands are involved in just about everything we do. They act as our first level of self-defense when we are falling. We use our hands to eat, write, type, drive and the list goes on and on. Just like my hands tell a story of events in my past, your hands do the same. No matter what the condition of your hands, we need to keep them strong for the Lord’s work. Our hands can be offered as a stabilizing force to some one who needs help getting back on their feet, Our hands can be offered in sympathy to someone who has lost a loved one, and our hands can be firm when someone needs to turn their life around and get back on the straight and narrow path. During the past two months we have prayed for our Elders, Deacons, teachers and each other. We have prayed for ourselves to have listening ears, watching eyes, an understanding heart, and words ready to explain the Gospel. Now is the time to extend the hand of fellowship to those around us. My prayer is that we all have strong hands ready and willing to do the Lord’s work here at Southern Hills. ~Andy Miller
