Message from the Board of Directors

Th roughout this past year, we celebrated the

40th anniversary of the Friends of History

in Fulton. Each of our events showcased the 40 years of

memories. Our members’ support during this past year

helped us in collecting mementos and sharing them with

our community. Our Board of Directors stepped up to the

task of searching through our archives to find articles and

pictures of the beginning of an organization that opened

the doors of the Pratt House Museum. We will continue

to maintain this historic place in Fulton and its surround-

ing areas.

As we enter 2020, our work has already begun. The

floors in our office area and the music room have been

refurbished to show the beautiful hardwood that was pre-

viously covered with carpet. Our attic has been cleaned by

a company with expertise in critter control and we will

again attempt to seal the house to prevent bat entry.

The displays are coming together and in our next news-

letter we will be able to report that all are in place and

ready for our April opening. Thank you for your contin-

ued interest in the museum and for your help in preserving

our history.

Theresa Jones, museum coordina-

tor.

The expression of gratitude to

the local community has continued

to take shape in the Parade of Trees

event every year since 1988. Thank

you to Cindy and all her helpers—

Sarah Conley, Carol Dexter, Sue

Ebert, Karen Obrien, Alec Seymour

---and to Les and Janet Weldin and

Ed and Carole Farfaglia for their

decorating expertise. Thank you for

making this event so much fun for

the community and for the Friends

of History!

The Friends of History in Ful-

ton would like to thank our event

sponsors: Fulton Savings Bank for

first-prize awards; Oswego Valley

Insurance Agencies for second-

prize awards; and Blue Moon Grill,

Edward Jones Oswego, and Fulton

Sunrise Rotary for the third-prize

awards.

Good food, good

friends,

good mu-

sic, and

good times were all part of the

Friends of History in Fulton’s 40th

celebration this past November.

Todd Hobin, singer, songwriter,

and professor of music at LeMoyne

College, was the entertainment of the

evening. Sights and sounds of 1979,

the year Friends of History in Fulton

(FOH) was formed, were enjoyed by

all. Hobin sang songs of the era, such

as “Margaritaville,” “Hungry Heart,”

and “Blue Eyes Cryin’ in the Rain,”

along with some of his own hits and

favorites. Guests also enjoyed trivia

cards that ranged from 1978 to 1986.

LaVerne Deland, President of

Friends of History, made special

mention of Alan Drohan, a signifi-

cant driving force in the formation of

Friends of History.

“A special thank you goes out to

Alan Drohan. Without his vision we

wouldn’t be here today,” DeLand

said.

To sum up the event, “This is our

40th year and we’re still kicking,” said

FOH board member Ed Farfaglia.

Still Kickin’ After 40 Years: Friends of History

Celebrates its 40th Anniversary with Music and Memories

The celebration included a table of memorabilia from the era such as old

vinyl albums, and posters, as well as a presentation depicting memories of

past and present members enjoying FOH events and parties.

A professor of music at LeMoyne College, Hobin shared his thoughts

about 1979 and provided background history on songs he performed.
