‘During my architectural studies at Oxford Brookes I felt compelled not only tocomplete architectural projects, but also to do some other forms of art. ‘Father’ is a painting which looks at the idea of Creation and nature. It tries to illustrate an impression of what this means to me. I used my own father’s eyes as a point of reference to humanise the concept which I portray in this painting.’

Balkan Holiday Houseroyan, Bulgaria
A week’s use (self-catering, excl. flights) of a traditional hamlet house, sleeping 6over two floors, each fitted as a self-contained unit with kitchen and bathroom; self-catering. Near Troyan, it is 2 hrs. drive from the airports at Sofia and Plovdiv.
The house is recently restored and furnished in traditional style, and it is surrounded by agarden planted with fruit trees with a terrace offering commanding panoramic views ofthe Balkan Mountains. The hamlet is peacefully situated within half an hour’s woodedwalk to the Troyan Monastery, a foremost historic monastery in Bulgaria famous for itsmiracle-working icon and colourful mural painting. It is a secluded base for mountainexcursions to suit every level of ability and every field of interest in the natural world, aswell as for expeditions further afield exploring Bulgaria the Beautiful and its richcultural history.
