Adopt-a-Bed ProgramThe FUM Adopt-a-Bed program covers hospital expenses for individuals who are unable to pay for their care.

Upon recommendation by a nurse, and screening by a doctor and the chaplain, patients are admitted to the Adopt-a-Bed program, which provides financial assistance (up to 100% of the bill) based on a careful assessment of the family’s situation.

Without Adopt-a-Bed, FLMH would not be able to continue to provide care for all those whom Christ calls us to serve.

HIV/AIDSFLMH pioneered an award-winning Comprehen-sive Care Center for HIV/AIDS care—the first of its kind in Western Kenya. HIV/AIDS clients receive regular counseling, consistent dispensing of Antiretroviral Therapy medications, regional care clinics, home visits, support groups, and nutritional and wellness education, all free of charge.

Maternity CareLast year, FLMH delivered 2,000 newborns, taxing its existing childbirth center. A 2018 expansion to the maternity ward will provide a larger birthing room, as well as more space for prenatal and postnatal care, and expanded facili-ties for premature babies.

Partner with Lugulu Hospital FLMH relies on patient fees and government health insurance payments, but this income does not cover all of the operating costs of a large general hospital. FUM partners with Lugulu Hospital to support high-quality Christ- centered health care through:

• The Adopt-a-Bed program, to cover the cost of treatment for those who are unable to pay.

• Monthly donations to underwrite the operating costs of the hospital.

• Grant-writing and special project fundraising for capital improvements.

• Living Letters volunteers and work teams, serving in both medical and non-medical roles.

• Placement of long-term field staff.

Please consider a one-time or monthly gift to support Lugulu Hospital and the excellent ministry it provides. If you feel called to get more involved, contact the Global Ministries department at FUM.

“I was a stranger and you welcomed me. I was naked and you gave me clothing. I was sick and you took care of me.”
