Local Workforce Board Roles
Strategic: Setting priorities for workforce investments, leading career pathways development, identifying and promoting promising workforce practices.
Systems Alignment: Designating One‐Stop Operators, Program Oversight and MOUs with partners, oversight of local youth activities
Planning: Must prepare a regional plan and a local strategic plan.

Creation of Regional Planning Areas
Goal: Promote alignment of workforce programs with regional economic development strategies to meet the needs of employers and job seekers
Designation of Regions: The State, in consultation with local workforce boards and elected officials, is required to designate Regions following certain criteria.
Regional means:Workforce planning, coordinated service strategies and support services, industry sector strategies, administrative cost sharing, alignment with regional economic development initiatives
