T he Lebanon County Association of REALTORS® has been supportive of Habitat for Humanity of Lebanon County and its‟ ongoing efforts to help those in need to

realize the dream of owning a simple, decent home. In fact, Habitat for Humanity has been designated as the major focus of our organization‟s community service activities for several years.

In 1994, the Association began its‟ support of Habitat for Humanity. We tried to organize “work crews” to build a “Habitat House”, but that just didn‟t seem to be enough. Volunteers were plentiful, but materials to build the houses cost money. So the Association began its monetary support in 1995 with the donation of proceeds from a variety of fundraising activities. At first, $2 of every dues payment was earmarked for contribution to Habitat. The amount was augmented by proceeds from sub sales and raffles.

In 1996 we held the „First Annual Art Auction‟, and were able to present our first gift of $6,000. We have held an Art Auction every year since, and to date, have contributed over $119,000 to Habitat for Humanity. Two years ago was another milestone for us; 2009 was the first year that the auction was slated as a „Benefit Auction‟ to include a wide variety of items in addition to beautiful artwork. Another exciting first for us in 2009 was the use of all local artists and supporting our local talent. The 2009 and 2010 Benefits were such incredible successes, raising more than $28,000 combined, that we are repeating the winning formula for 2011.

H abitat for Humanity is a non-denominational, ecumenical, Christian ministry that works in partnership with God and people everywhere to build decent, affordable houses in which people

can live and grow to their full potential.

Habitat was established in Lebanon County in 1990 by a group of local business and church leaders who recognized a growing need for affordable housing in our community. The first house was completed in 1992. As of this auction, Habitat has completed more than 30 homes providing housing for 122 people in Lebanon County. Two more homes are under active construction and 2 additional homes wait to be refurbished for selected families. Each donor and volunteer contributes to the mission by partnering with Habitat in meaningful ways.

Volunteers and businesses within the community cooperate to construct Habitat houses. Successful applicants must complete 200 hours of “sweat equity” and participate in Homeowner Classes and Budget Counseling Classes. Families purchase the houses with zero interest and no-profit mortgages. Their monthly payment of principal and escrow will not exceed 30% of the monthly family income. The mortgage payments then cycle through Habitat to build future homes.

Habitat also generates income through the recent addition of the „Re-Build-It Store’. The used construction supply store recycles overstocked, discontinued, new, and used building materials donated by manufacturers, stores, contractors and individuals. The donated items are primarily sold to the public but may be used in the construction of Habitat houses. The store is a partnership between Jubilee Ministries and Habitat of Lebanon County and the income generated supports the missions.

The Re-Build-It Store is a construction supply store selling over-stocked, discontinued, new and used building materials. These

items are donated by manufacturers, stores, contractors, and indi-viduals. We have a wide range of items including various types of

lights, cabinets, many types of interior and exterior doors, win-dows, various kinds of hardware and fasteners, tools, and much more. One never knows what they will find at the Re-Build-It

Store as we are constantly selling items and receiving donations. If you are looking to do a large or small project, make sure to stop

in regularly to checkout what we have. Income generated by the Re-Build-It Store is used to support the

missions of Jubilee Ministries and Habitat for Humanity of

Lebanon County.

‘CHECK OUT’ will be located in the BAR AREA WITH THE LINE FORMING THROUGH THE BALLROOM.

Please do not pick up any of your items and bring them with you, this includes silent auction items as

well. Volunteers will bring all items to the lobby for you after your checkout has been completed.

All Silent Auction Winners will be posted near the checkout area and all Live Auction winners will be

recorded for you. The list of Live and Silent Auction Winners will be recorded and on your bidding

slip. You need only to come to the checkout in the bar area, take a look at the Silent Auction Winner

List if you bid on Silent Auction items, settle your account, and the checkout volunteers will bring all

items to you. You will receive a copy of your slip prior to payment.
