26th February 2014 - Week 4 Term 1
School Picnic Tomorrow, Friday, 28th February, we will be having a school picnic
at Ligar Bay and we will be based by the Ligar Bay toilet block.
Children are to bring: togs / towel
morning tea / lunch
drink
sunhat
rash vest / t-shirt to cover shoulders
sunscreen
Optional body boards
spades /buckets
We will leave school at 10.30am by bus and return around 2.30pm.
Those ordering lunch at school will have it delivered to the beach!
Parents are most welcome to come along and join us.
Board of Trustees The Board of Trustees held their monthly meeting last Thursday.
Clarissa Gray was re-elected Chairperson with Andy Williams
Vice- Chairperson.
The school charter was to be sent to the Ministry of Education for approval.
The annual budget was approved. Mark and Jodie to visit schools in Nelson and along with staff develop a technology plan
and present it to the Board for consideration. Extra money has been budgeted to provide opportunities for more of our
talented children.
Next meeting is scheduled for the 27th March 2014 at 6.30pm.
Swimming Display Next Tuesday 4th March, at 1.30pm all children from Rooms 2 and 3 and most
children from Room 4, along with some children from Room 5 and Room 1, will be
taking part in a display of what they have been learning in swimming this year.
Teachers will be showing the different learning stages of swimming and the
events will be non competitive. All parents, grandparents and friends of the
school are invited to attend.
Motupipi School Triathlon We are hoping to hold our school triathlon towards the end of March.
Date and venue to be confirmed.
All children will be involved having a short swim or wade, bike /
scooter and run.
The children will all be involved in training for the event closer to the
time.

Ukulele Beginners Course starts
next week with spaces filling up quickly.

Beginners Ukulele is available to students in
Rms 4,5 and 1. The 5 week course costs $25.
Instrument provided for term.
Ukulele Band – Tuesdays.
If you’ve had lessons you may join the band.

Headlice We have been noticing lots of untreated headlice in the
classrooms. We ask that you please check your children's hair
regularly and treat if necessary. Headlice breed and spread prolifically in primary
schools and it ‘s important to eradicate them as soon as they are noticed!
