Friday, June 29, 2018 Upcoming Events Mary Poppins on stage this weekend! The jack-of-all-trades, Bert, introduces us to England in 1910 and the troubled Banks family. Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family members how to value each other again. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren't the only ones upon whom she has a profound effect. Even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny who advises, "Anything can happen if you let it." Performance dates are June 29, 30 and July 1. Show times are 7 pm (Friday & Saturday) and 2 pm (Sunday). Ticket prices are $10 - Adults (18-64); $8 - Seniors (65+); and $6 - Youth (3-17). Tickets can be purchased online at tickets for Tartan Theatre or one hour before each performance. School board information session to be held on July 11 Thinking about running for School Board? Attend an informational session on Wednesday, July 11, 2018. Residents who are considering running for a seat on the North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale School Board are invited to attend an informational session from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11 in the Superintendent’s Office at the District Education Center, 2520 East 12th Avenue, North St. Paul. Supt. Christine Osorio will cover the roles and responsibilities of the School Board, how to become a candidate, and answer any questions individuals may have. If you are interested in running for School Board, but cannot attend the meeting, the Minnesota School Boards Association has information and a brochure posted on its website at www.mnmsba.org/BecomingASchoolBoardMember. On Tuesday, November 6, residents of the North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale School District will elect three School Board members to a four-year term. Anyone interested in filing for School Board can do so between July 31 and August 14 at the District Education Center, 2520 East 12th Avenue, North St. Paul, during regular business hours, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. On the last day of filing, the office will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. An affidavit of candidacy must be filed with the School District’s election clerk, Jo McCabe, and the $2 filing fee paid before 5 p.m. on August 14. Summer Performing Arts Every summer ISD 622 offers many performing arts opportunities for students. Among them are theater camps and beginning band. Next up, North Drama Director Kevin Barnard offers a two-week musical theater camp from July 23 – August 3 which concludes with a performance. Visit www.isd622.org/youth to register. Beginning Summer Band Camp is August 14-16 from 7:45 am – 2:00 pm at North High. More information is available on the program’s website at https://www.isd622.org/beginningband. Mary Poppins on stage this weekend! The jack-of-all-trades, Bert, introduces us to England in 1910 and the troubled Banks family.
