What is the Census? The census is a survey which happens every 10 years and gives a picture of all the people and households in England and Wales. The next census takes place on Sunday 21 st March 2021. The information you give in the Census helps provide the best picture of the needs of everyone. Organisations such as local authorities and charities use this picture to plan and fund the services we all need, including education, healthcare and transport. Without the census, it would be much more difficult to do this. Every household should complete the census on Sunday 21 st March and everyone should be included on a census at the place where they live or are staying on that date. The census can be completed by the householder for all members of the household or they should ensure all household members complete their own. Every household is required by law to complete the census and it is an offence not to complete it or to supply false information, not all questions are compulsory. The first census took place in 1841 and previous census records can be viewed online and can be used to trace family history – find out more here . Friday 12 th March 2021 Daily Briefing

Wellbeing Tip of the Day

Five things that can help if you’re worried about going back to school

Be safety savvy• Know that your school will be doing everything in their power to keep you safe• Follow the procedures, even if they seem strange at firstGet into a routine• You may have got out of the swing of your usual routine recently• Having a routine – including eating and sleeping at regular times – can help your wellbeing• If you're a teenager, you need about nine hours of sleep per night to function well so aim for that as much as possible!Talk to someone about your worries• Telling a parent, guardian, teacher or other adult how you’re feeling may help you feel less alone• If you want to speak to a counsellor, you can contact ChildlineWrite down your worries• Split your worries into two groups: “Things I can do something about” and “Things I can’t do anything about”• Look at the ones you can do something about and see if you can problem-solve any of them• Speak to a trusted adult about the “Things I can’t do anything about” pile• Some worries might not have a solution, but talking about them with others can help.Remember when you’ve coped with things in the past• Think – which big changes or challenges have you already faced and got through?• Remind yourself of past successes and think about the strategies you used to tackle them• Draw on your supportive relationships when times get tough – asking others for help is one way to build resilience.

Answers for the Daily Numeracy from Thursday 11th March

Did you solve the puzzling pipes problem?

Get your teeth into numeracy at LPGS

A. On the right. Most gas pipes are made up of straight lines and elbows (90° angles) so solutions containing curves are unrealistic, though they may be mathematically sound.

Run the South West Coast Path

Mr Fox Joyce (Head of Visual Arts) is currently running the South West Coast Path some 630 miles (virtually). He is doing this to raise much needed funds for the Ronald McDonald Housing Charities which is an organisation that helps families in great need in looking after their ill children while in hospital - https://rmhc.org.uk/

Mr Fox Joyce is running between a half marathon and full marathon each week in his local area and then this is tagged onto the full distance of the South West Coast Path. He is currently aiming to raise £5000 for charity. You can follow his progress via his JustGiving Page at -https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/edward-fox-joyce“I love running in any weather conditions, it not only keeps me fit and healthy but also allows me time to think in my own space; it is great for mental health, resilience and strength building. Why not join me for part of a run where you live? Clock up your miles and see how far you go…!!
