There is only .005% of freshwater that is both easy to access and good for drinking. This percentage keeps going down and if it continues to fall we will have no fresh drinking water, which is vital for survival.

What is the problem?

Page 3: Freshwater Depletion

How are humans causing the problem?

Humans are causing the problem because our population continues to increase so does the average water usage per person and household. Global warming is causing climate change and climate change is affecting rain patterns which is also affecting the amount of freshwater. Global warming is also a factor because it is melting the ice caps and as the ice caps melt the level of salt water increases and will contaminate the freshwater resources. Polution is also causing the water to deplete.

How is it hurting the environment?

It is hurting the environment in so many ways. First of all some freshwater bodies are starting to dissappear. Without freshwater the environment will start to dry up. Dry surroundings cause many problems in itself. Such as, loss of plants in an area and fires. The environment will become dry without any vegetation etty soon no living things at all.

What will eventually happen if the problem is not stopped?

If freshwater continues to deplete then it will lead to devastating effects. Some problems are:War – We would be fighting over what little water is leftDisturb the ecosystemExtinction – Many species world-wide would die out because they have no water to survive off of Loss of Human lives – Humans cannot survive without clean drinking waterEarth will become barren, desolate, and a lifeless planet just like the other planets
