Beaulieu Riviera Language Center! Beaulieu Riviera Language Center is located on the Riviera, in a lovely and lively seaside town, Beaulieu-sur-Mer, meaning literally “beautiful place on the sea”. Our school will help you learn and improve your French language and make you live experiences you’ll never forget!

LOCATION SCHOOL PROGRAMMES

Conveniently located in the centre of Beaulieu-sur-Mer, close to shops, restaurants and bakeries, less than 10 minutes from the train station, bus stops and beaches. In Beaulieu-sur-Mer, our students can enjoy a mix of typical smaller town life with the excitement of a big city very close by, Nice being only less than 5 miles away.

French language training school on the Riviera with a warm welcome and a family atmosphere. It is in a Riviera-style house. It has 6 bright, comfortable classrooms, a cozy student lounge & communal kitchen, and a beautiful garden with many citrus-fruit trees.

The school offers a wide range of French immersion programmes* for all levels, from beginner (CEFR level pre-A1) to advanced (CEFR level C1), General French, examination preparation course, individual tuition & options. *All our programmes are closely linked to the Council of Common European Framework of Reference for languages (CEFR).

We offer an excellent choice of accommodation for all needs and budgets. They are all quality controlled. They are located in Beaulieu, Villefranche-sur-Mer or Nice. Our accommodation options include homestay, residences, apartments and hotels.

We offer a full programme of social and cultural activities, visits and excursions to allow you to meet people from all over the world and from Beaulieu and to encourage you to speak French. At the weekends you can take excursions and travel to places nearby or further away.

Learning experience

Whether you are learning for your studies, your work or simply for enjoying a great life experience, we, at Beaulieu Riviera Language Center, will make sure you reach your goals.

You can choose from our wide range of French language immersion programmes to develop your speaking, listening, reading, writing, study skills, to communicate effectively, improve your fluency and confidence in French.

In your classes and outside classes, you will meet people from around the world and live unforgettable moments. You will make the most of your experience and practice your French while taking part in our fun social and cultural activities and excursions.

Teaching methods You will work on a wide range of cultural, historical, economic, sociological, artistic and literary topics to enhance your knowledge of the French language and culture. You will take practice tests and learn exam techniques and will focus on features like style and discourse. Our lessons are based around a central task or several tasks to be completed in pairs or groups using and improving your French. Practicing such activities will make you spend a lot of time communicating and thus increase your confidence using the language. You will learn through doing.

Courses Choosing the right type of course to achieve your personal learning goals is very important. We will offer advice and support to make sure you get maximum benefit from your programme with us.

GENERAL FRENCH COURSES STANDARD 20 – INTENSIVE 27

For participants of all ages who want to develop the 4 language skills -listening, reading, writing and speaking-, who need to communicate effectively in real life situations and who wish to learn cultural, historical, economic, sociological, artistic and literary aspects of France. Course objectives:

• Be independent in everyday tasks and situations.

The standard General French course focuses on the 4 language skills

and more particularly on spoken fluency to improve confidence and increase fluency. The General French Standard course is the core programme of our group courses. It will give you a practical understanding of the French language by increasing your knowledge of grammar, vocabulary and idiomatic phrases with long and good conversation practice.

The Intensive General French course includes the standard course

of General French (20 lessons) and extra lessons to allow you to personalize and intensify your course by taking an additional 5 hours per week to give you a deeper practical understanding of the French language and to lead you all the way to fluency. The 5 hours of extra lessons are made up of 3 hours of listening and speaking, 2 hours of reading, writing and conversation.

__________________________________________________ The examination preparation / French for your education course is taken in conjunction with the standard course. It is designed to develop the 4 language skills in French and to help you improve your study skills. The 5 hours of examination and education preparation focus on training in academic reading, listening, writing and speaking, on training in exam skills and strategies, and on practice tests. You will have full mock exams during your session to help you achieve the French language qualifications you need to pass your exams and / or enter your university.

DELF (Diplôme d'Etudes en Langue Française) is an official qualification awarded by the French Ministry of Education to certify the competency of candidates from outside France in the French language. DELF is composed of 4 independent diplomas that correspond to the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

The 4 diplomas that make up DELF are completely independent. This means that candidates can register for the examination of their choice, according to their level. At each level, 4 skills are evaluated: listening, speaking, reading and writing. The examinations can be taken in Centre International de Valbonne in the Académie de Nice (there are monthly exam sessions in CIV) or in your own country or in many other cities in France. TCF (Test de Connaissances du Français), accredited by the French Ministry of Education, is a French language proficiency test for non-native speakers of French who wish to evaluate and have their level of proficiency certified for professional, academic or personal reasons. It grades and ranks candidates at one of the six levels (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 or C2) of the CECR. TCF grade results are reliable measurements for determining proficiency. Each candidate is awarded a certificate which is valid for two years. You can take the TCF examinations in France or abroad. Please contact us for more information.

FRENCH & COOKING

For participants who want to develop the 4 language skills -listening, reading, writing and speaking-, in order to communicate effectively in real life situations and who wish to practice their French while cooking and discovering French cuisine. The cooking class will help you improve your culinary skills and develop your knowledge of French cuisine. You will learn to make 2 to 3 courses depending on the recipes. The recipes will be easy enough so that you can recreate them back home. You will be taught tips to become a better cook! The cooking class is taken in conjunction with the standard or intensive general French course. Course objectives:

FRENCH FOR 50+

For participants of 50+ years old who want to develop the 4 language skills -listening, reading, writing and speaking-, in order to communicate effectively in real life situations and who wish to practice their French while discovering the Riviera with people of their age range and same interests. The programme* includes guided excursions to Monaco, Saint-Paul-de-Vence, Cannes, Antibes, Eze Village, Nice, a guided visit of Beaulieu (“On the footsteps of the Belle Epoque” or “Botanical walk”), a diner or a wine tasting.

Accommodation Choosing the right type of accommodation to feel comfortable for your stay in France is very important to us. We have carefully selected a wide range of accommodation types to meet your individual needs.

HOMESTAY RESIDENCES

Homestay is the perfect way to experience French culture and food and to practice your French. Our homestay families are located in Beaulieu-sur-Mer, Villefranche-sur-Mer or Nice and are within easy reach of our school (walk, train or bus). Travel time is only 15 to 30 minutes. Our homestays are selected for their friendly atmosphere and clean and comfortable place.

Residences will allow you to socialize with people from all over the world and to live independently while enjoying and exploring Beaulieu-sur-Mer and Nice, giving you many opportunities to practice your French skills with residents. For age 18 and over. 2 types of residences:

Homestay is the most popular option for it is affordable and suitable for adults of all ages of 16 and over. We offer single or double rooms (for people who book with a friend). 2 options - Breakfast only (Bed & breakfast).

- Breakfast & dinner (half-board).

A variety of food can be provided according to religious beliefs, special dietary requests or food allergies. However, there will be an extra charge for this.

Student residence Our self-catering student residences are conveniently located in Nice. They are within easy reach to our school by bus or train (15 to 30 minutes). They are suitable for students and young professionals. Each apartment has a fully-equipped kitchen, a single or double bed and an en-suite bathroom.

Serviced apartments (Apartments hotel) Our self-catering serviced apartments are very conveniently located in Beaulieu-sur-Mer, close to shops, restaurants, the beach and the school. The apartments are extremely comfortable. There are studios and 1-bedroom apartments with private kitchens and bathrooms. They are suitable for students, professionals and families.

APARTMENTS HOTELS We have several apartments for single or double occupancy and shared flats in Beaulieu-sur-Mer and Nice. They are conveniently located near a bus or tramway station. Each of our apartment is fully equipped: fully fitted kitchen, bathroom, TV, dining area. Apartments are suitable for adults of 18 and over.

Staying in a hotel can give you greater freedom and flexibility and can be easier than living in an apartment or a homestay since you won’t have to worry about food shopping, cooking and cleaning! We have agreed on special rates with some hotels for our students. Hotels are suitable for adults of 18 and over.

The school offers a full program of social and cultural activities, visits and excursions to allow you to meet people from all over the world and Beaulieu as well. Terms and conditions Applications: Applicants must be 16 years old at least and be non-native speakers of French. Students under 18 years of age must submit a signed parental guarantee. Applicants must submit a copy of their passport or national ID with their enrolment form to [email protected] with their non-refundable deposit of € 190 or full fees. Or they can register via our online form. Application confirmation: Beaulieu Riviera Language Center sends confirmation of booking on receipt of enrolment form and deposit or full payment. For students who apply for a visa Beaulieu Riviera Language Center sends confirmation of booking and letter of acceptance on receipt of enrolment form and deposit or full payment. Course fees: Course fees include registration fees (€ 60), tuition, WiFi internet in the school premises, placement test and certificate of achievement. Tuition: Each lesson lasts 45 minutes, each hour lasts 60 minutes. Students will be assigned to a morning or an alternating morning and afternoon schedule based on level and availability. Courses run from Monday to Friday (except on Bank holidays). If a student does not have the minimum level of French required to follow the intensive or examination course he/she registered for, BRLC reserves the right to offer individual lessons and reduce the number of lessons. If the student does not agree, he/she would be refunded appropriately (see refund part). BRLC reserves the right to reduce the number of lessons in a class due to insufficient number of students. If there are 3 to 5 students in class, the programs will be reduced to

- 15 lessons for the standard course (20 lessons) - 20 lessons for the intensive course or exam preparation course (27

lessons) If there are 1 to 2 students in class, the programs will be reduced to

- 8 lessons for the standard course (20 lessons) - 10 lessons for the intensive course or exam preparation course (27

lessons) If students do not agree to the reduction of lessons they can change their course dates or cancel their course. Students will not be charged extra fees for changes or will be refunded appropriately for cancellation. These apply except when a letter of acceptance for a visa application has been issued. Accommodation fees: Accommodation fees for homestay, residences and apartments are calculated per week, (same price for 6 or 7 nights). It is usually provided from Sunday 18.00 to Saturday 12.00. For any other arrival dates and hours, please contact BRLC at [email protected] Accommodation fees for hotels are calculated per night. Local taxes may apply when booking a residence, an apartment or a hotel and will be clearly displayed upon invoicing. When booking via BRLC website (www.brlc.fr) students will only pay accommodation handling fees at first. Accommodation fees will be charged once accommodation options have been confirmed and agreed. Accommodation: Homestay can be with breakfast only or half-board (breakfast + dinner). All other types of accommodation are without meals. Hotels can provide breakfast with extra charges. Twin and double rooms can only be booked by people travelling together. BRLC is not responsible for personal belongings, damage, delay or accident in accommodation. Students under 18 can only book a home stay and are expected to conduct themselves as responsible adults. Students changing accommodation will not be refunded any difference in price. Extra fees may apply. If the homestay we have booked for a student becomes unavailable at the last minute (for unexpected events -illness, accident, change of schedule, etc.), we will book another homestay and inform the student (and his parents if he/she is under 18) immediately. Accommodation costs are not refunded for part of a week. No allowance is made for absences from accommodation. Nationality/gender mix is not guaranteed in apartments or residences. Transfers: Flight / train details including: arrival time, flight / train numbers, airline and point of origin must be advised 7 days prior to arrival in order for BRLC to provide transfers. No refunds will be granted on transfers if flight / train details are not sent to BRLC at least 7 days prior to arrival. Airport / train transfer fees include a maximum of 1 hour waiting time. In the event of delays exceeding 1 hour, students are advised to inform the driver otherwise they will be charged the additional fee at the school. The driver’s information will be sent to students prior to their arrival. Transfer cancellations made within 24 hours of arrival will be charged in full. Students under 18 are required to purchase transfers through BRLC. When booking a transfer via BRLC online enrollment form students will pay the minimum fees at first. Extra charges may apply if accommodation is outside Nice and / or if the transfer is scheduled between 21.00 and 8.00.

Payment:

Total fees are payable at least 15 working days (3 full weeks) before the start of the course. Students who enroll less than 15 working days before arrival must send full payment with enrolment form. Fees can be paid in Euros only, by bank transfer, visa or master cards. Bank charges must be paid by the student. Visas: It is the students’ responsibility to enquire whether they need or do not need a visa to travel to France. It is the students’ responsibility to ensure that they have the correct visa type. If students have a visa and do not attend class regularly, BRLC will inform the French authorities. If BRLC finds a student has no appropriate leave to remain in France, BRLC will terminate the course and accommodation immediately and there will be no refund. Postponement of course and accommodation: If students want to postpone their course and accommodation for reasons outside their control (illness, death of a relative, university exams), course fees can be held for one year. However, a proof will be required (doctor’s certificate for instance). Accommodation will be charged. BRLC recommends that student purchase a travel insurance before leaving their country (See insurance part). Cancellation Fees: In accordance with European directive 97/7, students can use their right to retract within 7 days from the day they have booked. Notice of cancellation must be given in writing. If notice of cancellation is given in writing 15 working days or more before the start date, course fees are refunded in full, less the deposit and irrecoverable expenses (bank charges, express mail, etc.); accommodation fees are refunded less one week (except for nonrefundable accommodation). If notice of cancellation is given in writing less than 15 working days before the start date, one week of the tuition fee and the total amount of the accommodation fee (max. 4 weeks) are not refunded. If notice of cancellation is given on or after the first day of class, the accommodation fees and the course fees are not refunded. (Working days are Monday-Friday.) Documents sent to students for visa purposes must be returned to the school upon cancellation. Visa refusals: Fees can only be returned (less deposit and irrecoverable expenses) after BRLC has received the original visa refusal letter. Refunds: Money will be returned to the original source. For students who are enrolled through a representative agent of BRLC, all refunds will be issued to the representative and are subject to that party’s own refund policies. Insurance: Students are strongly advised to take out insurance to cover all expenses in the event of cancellation (for illness, death or serious illness of a close relative, public disturbance, industrial actions or any other factors outside BRLC’s control). The insurance should also cover medical expenses and all other risks associated with travelling and staying abroad. You can obtain insurance through your educational consultant, your university or school, your educational tour operator. You can also contact BRLC at [email protected]. Note that no refunds will be made for factors outside BRLC’s control (public disturbance, strikes, industry actions, weather conditions, etc.) Photographs & videos: BRLC can take photos and videos of its students in order to promote the school through social networks, websites, brochures and any other publicity media. Students and parents / guardians of students under 18 must inform the school in writing before the first day of class if they do not allow use of such images. BRLC will respect their wishes but it is the student's responsibility to absent themselves from the photograph/video. Protection of personal data: In accordance with the regulations in force, you have a right of access and rectification allowing you, if necessary, to rectify, complete or update your personal data that are inaccurate or incomplete. In addition, you have a right, for legitimate reasons, to oppose the processing of your data. You can exercise all your rights of access to your data and have them rectified by contacting [email protected] Expulsion policy: If students’ conduct and/or attendance is unsatisfactory, it can result in expulsion. Students will be given an oral warning, then a written warning and ultimately a second and final written warning. In the event of expulsion fees are not refunded. Complaints: Students are strongly advised to report any problem to the staff as soon as possible since resolution can be reached more easily on site and can be more satisfactory if dealt quickly. However, students can complete our Student Complaint Form to make a complaint in writing. The Student Complaint Form can be found in the students’ room, requested at reception or by email [email protected]. Any complaint received will be dealt with immediately and a resolution should be reached as quickly as possible. BRLC is not liable for any extra costs incurred as a result of delays (flights, visas, personal reasons, etc.) These costs may include accommodation costs, transportation costs, dining, medical bills, etc. Holidays: The school will be closed on public holidays (2020: 13 April, 1 May, 8 May, 21 May, 1 June, 14 July, 15 August, 1 November, 11 November). There is no reduction in fees when a course includes a public holiday. Lessons are not made up, except for private tuition. The school will be closed for Christmas: from 21 December, 2019 to 12 January, 2020 & from 19 December 2020 to 10 January 2021.
