MALO (1) D-Day Beaches Giverny Versailles Mont St. Michel 26 Day 1: Departure from the USA Day 2: Paris Welcome to Paris, the “City of Lights,” where your CHA Tour Director greets you. Later, begin your exploration of Paris on a CHA Walking Tour. Day 3: Paris-(Seine River Cruise & Eiffel Tower) Guided sightseeing of Paris introduces you to the Place de la Concorde, Les Invalides, the Tuileries Gardens, the Place de l’Opera, and the soaring Eiffel Tower. Visit Gothic Notre Dame Cathedral to admire its flying buttresses and rose windows before ending your tour at the world-famous Louvre Museum. This afternoon, you are free to discover the museum at your own pace using your “CHA Walking Guide of the Louvre.” This evening, enjoy the sights and sounds of Paris on an optional Seine River cruise followed by a visit to the Eiffel Tower. Day 4: Paris-(Giverny) Savor a free day in Paris, or opt for an excursion to Giverny, where Impressionist painter Claude Monet lived and worked for over 40 years, to visit his house and the picturesque gardens and lily ponds depicted in many of his paintings. Day 5: Paris-Versailles-Chartres-Loire Valley Today’s journey to the Loire Valley includes a stop at King Louis XIV’s Versailles Palace. During your visit, admire the dazzling Hall of Mirrors where the treaty ending World War I was signed, Marie Antoinette’s Chamber, the Royal Chapel, and the landscaped gardens surrounding the palace. This afternoon’s high- light is a visit to Gothic Chartres Cathedral to admire its remarkable stained-glass windows. Day 6: Loire Valley Chateaux Today’s guided sightseeing around the lush Loire Valley begins with a visit to Chambord, the largest of the area’s castles, with its amazing double-helix staircase. Spend some time in Blois, an impor- tant town in the heart of the chateaux region, to admire Blois Castle’s remarkable facade. End your day with a visit to elegant Chenonceau, along the River Cher, once home of Catherine de’ Medici and Diane de Poitiers, mistress of King Henry II. Day 7: Loire Valley-Mont St. Michel-St. Malo Drive north to the fabled island of Mont St. Michel to visit its famous Gothic-style Abbey which has been called “the Wonder of the West- ern World.” Continue to France’s rugged Brittany region to the walled city of St. Malo, known for its Corsair pirates. Overnight in the St. Malo area. Day 8: St. Malo-D-Day Beaches-Paris Begin your day with a scenic drive to France’s Normandy coast to explore the historic D-Day Beaches where Allied Forces invaded occupied France during World War II. After a stop at the American Cemetery where more than 9,000 of our nation’s soldiers are buried, you will visit the Arromanches Invasion Museum to see its excellent collection of models, photographs, and equipment used by Allied Forces.
