Freezing Temperatures 2013

During the months of June to September, the temperatures in the highlands of The Sierra of Peru in Puno (4200 m.a.s.l. / 7874 f.a.s.l.) go as low as –20oC. / -4o F. This, happens during sunrise. Children dye because of this reason

“We need to be warm in order not to get sick” ….the highest mortality index in that area during these times of the year occurs in children ranging from 0 to 5 years of age.

The only time that these children have ever received new clothes and non perishables was in 2009. We managed to reach out to 1,500 children in 10 different isolated Indian communities where nor state nor private help had ever reached.

We took over 5 hours giving away the goods. People came by horse and walking through negative temperatures from their communities to The Fundo (hacienda) Place* in the Melgar province of Puno where the giving of the goods took place.

*The location of the hacienda is privately owned by the people helping out.

We are a group of people with Social Sensibility. We organize the help for these people providing them with some clothing and food during the Freezing temperatures of the year. We are now working –once again- for this cause and we request “YOUR HELP”
