Summary:

•The first day of Erin Gruwell as a student teacher inWoodrow Wilson High School in long beach, California was not necessarily a welcome dear teacher.

• Ms. Gruwell received a class fragmentized as into small islands. There were several groups divided by racial and ethnic matters. Latinos, niggers, eastern immigrants and a little white people.

• Gruwell entered into the class 203 inWoodrow school as a just graduated teacher looking for experience and on the end of the day after being mocked, scorned and threatened by her students, she return home with two choices in mind.

• . Many are in gangs and almost all know somebody that has been killed by gang violence. The Latinos hate the Cambodians who hate the blacks and so on. The only person the students hate more is Ms. Gruwell. It isn't until Erin holds an unsanctioned discussion about a recent drive-by shooting death that she fully begins to understand what she's up against. And it isn't until she provides an assignment of writing a daily journal - which will be not graded, and will remain unread by her unless they so choose - that the students begin to open up to her.

• . As Erin tries harder and harder to have resources provided to

teach properly (which often results in her needing to pay for them herself through working second and third jobs), she seems to face greater resistance, especially from her colleagues, such as Margaret Campbell, her section head, who lives by regulations and sees such resources as a waste, and Brian Gelford, who will protect his "priviledged" position of teaching the senior honors classes at all cost. Erin also finds that her teaching job is placing a strain on her marriage to Scott Casey, a man who seems to have lost his own idealistic way in life.

• REFLECTION

A story about a white teacher trying to make difference in a black, Latino and Asian High School freshmen.

This movie is that there should be more teachers like Mrs. Gruwell, with the determination and the will to teach no matter what the atmosphere of the classroom. It represents what a professional teacher should be. Not only did he teach a lesson, but was able to change students ironic way of thinking.I was amazed to Mrs. Gruwell and how she handles different situations in the classroom. It also helps those students to be good no matter the color is. I had three favourite characters, those where Mrs. Gruwell, Eva and Marcus I like them because Mrs. Gruwell never gave up and even got divorced but never let down her students that really needed her. Eva changed her attitude from protecting her own doing what is right no matter what. Marcus chooses to change his gang life in the street to saying sorry and going back home with his mother. Just like this kids made a really important transformation of their lives, who don’t have nothing, they started having hope. The teachers can learn that no matter what is their situation in the classroom they are ones that are capable of making change.

• I can relate my profession in this movie is that it is an excellent and inspiring movie especially to the teachers and students. For the teachers we should treat our students fairly and especially racial discrimination and for students they will learn from this movie no to give up on their dreams no matter what happen. No matter who they are or what their reputation is, we have the power to bring out the best of them by motivating them. I believe people should see this movie because it teaches us to expect more out of kids today and to give a chance, believe and help those who are in need. This movie for me went totally interesting, because I learn a lot from the movie being a future teacher I will treat my students fairly because we can’t avoid that we will be having soon a diverse learners different culture, beliefs experience and difference state of life. For me students must learn that no matter what the color or origin of other students, you must get along. For me teacher had courage to deal with each students who will take good. Every teacher should be like Mrs. Gruwell starting to deal with each students and the situation of each one.

Moral Values:     Moral values that I have learned in the Freedom Writers movie is if you try your best, you

can achieve what you are aiming for. It is different because it is real. Erin Gruwell teaches them to be real, to be honest, and to be themselves. From the  movie, one learns that she started her effort to reach out to the students, including working a second job, when she was still a student teacher.      Moral values that I have learned in the Freedom Writers movie is if you try your best, you can achieve what you are aiming for. From the  movie, one learns that she started her effort to reach out to the students, including working a second job, when she was still a student teacher.

Other than that, the other moral values that I have learned is we have to respect our teachers while they are teaching. As we can see in the movie, the students have not pay attention while the teacher was teaching. One situation happened where a student has drew a picture of a person and pass it over around the floor and they have laughed, until the teacher realized on what has happened. The teacher has managed to control the situation where she told the student who drew the picture to make some drawings on the boa rd because that student might have a good talent in drawings. This is how that I think a teacher should do in order to make students feel ashamed on what they did.

Last but not least, the other important moral values that I has learned is the student's motivation. We have to improve our level of motivation. We have to improve our level of motivation if we want to success in this challenging lives. The students in "Freedom Writers" have very low motivation due to their background and the history of their life. They have no motivation to success, to be a good person and even they only told their oneself to take revenge on what they have gone through their life. The teacher has instilled a motivation to the students slowly. She motivates the students by talks to them about the history and emphasis on the importance of each life and also the importance of being tolerate plus have a peaceful life.
