The Freedom Self Drive Modifications are something to be seen. If you can transfer or you want to drive from your wheelchair, our sales consultants can answer all your questions, and help to design the vehicle to suit your particular special needs.

All our vehicles are designed to take your manual or electric wheelchair and park it inside the vehicle. This is achieved using our standard Freedom Van and then automating the rear tailgate and ramp. With a push of a button on the FREEDOM REMOTE the rear tailgate and ramp are activated and open automatically. Audible sounds and safety features have been built in. After the ramp is fully deployed, you can manoeuvre your wheelchair inside the vehicle and lock it into the FREEDOM DOCK. This device eliminates the use of any wheelchair restraints and has built-in safety features, with a push of a button release and audible sounds.

If you are transferring to the driver seat, your wheelchair is docked next to it so to make transferring as easy as possible. After transferring onto the FREEDOM TRANSFER SEAT, you turn the seat and move it forward and up, using electric switches until you are in the correct driving position.

If you are driving from your wheelchair, the FREEDOM DOCK is already positioned in the driver’s position. You only have to lock in. To drive the vehicle you need FREEDOM CONTROLS. Many options are available. As standard we install a push pull accelerate and braking handle. To steer the vehicle while your right hand is on the handle, we have a driving knob for your left hand. Devices to operate the indicators, lights, horn etc. are available and can be installed so you do not have to move your hands away from the handle and steering wheel.

FREEDOM REMOTEA complete system can be installed to the vehicle, so with a push on the remote control pendant, the tailgate and ramp will automatically open or close. This is great for those that want to be more independent by being in control of entering and leaving the vehicle without any outside assistance at all.

FREEDOM DOCKThis Device consists of 2 sections. The receiver mechanism that is bolted to the floor of the vehicle, and the docking plate that can be mounted to most wheelchair on the market. It completely eliminates the use of cumbersome wheelchair restraints and it only takes about 3 seconds to lock the wheelchair and with a push of a button you can release the wheelchair from the system in about 5 seconds.

No more bending or kneeling down to attach restraints to the wheelchair.

If it is just a driving knob, pin, fork etc., or an accelerating and braking handle, handbrake extension or an electric handbrake, electric operated indicators, lights, wipers horn etc., left side accelerator pedal etc., we have the perfect combination of in house made products and the best products available on the market. Because we have our own design and engineering workshop, we can tailor make any device needed to make your driving experience the best it can be.

FREEDOM AUTO RAMPEven though the Freedom Ramp is very easy to deploy, some customers prefer it to be automatic. The original spring is replaced with an electric actuator so you can open and close the ramp with a push of a button. There will be no need to bend down to reach for the ramp.

FREEDOM RESTRAINTSThe choice of wheelchair restraints is very important. All our modifications come standard with a set of basic wheelchair restraints. To make restraining a wheelchair easier, we have other options available like electric restraints for the front and also slide and click restraints for the rear.

FREEDOM SEATThis seat is great when you want the option of having 2 extra seats available. It is neatly secured to the side of the vehicle and can easily be deployed in about 10 seconds, and it takes about the same time to stow away again. It can be fitted to most models available.

FREEDOM LAP/SASHA wheelchair occupant lap belt is supplied as standard with the vehicle. If it is not possible to use the original lap sash restraint from the vehicle, we can install a Lap/Sash Post. This gives you the added upper body protection and support.

FREEDOM WINCHA wheelchair helper winch can be installed to make it easier to pull a manual wheelchair into the vehicle when needed. Our winch comes with a remote control to make it very easy to use. It can easily pull 350 Kgs up a standard wheelchair ramp.

FREEDOM CAMERAFor those who want to see what is happening behind them while reversing, a reversing camera can be installed. We have a system that replaces the original mirror with a system that is not only a reversing camera, but also a GPS system, a Bluetooth Phone answering system and has many more features. The moment you put the vehicle in reverse, the camera will automatically switch to a reverse view.

FREEDOM SENSORSIf the vehicle has not already been fi tted with sensors, we can install aftermarket reversing sensors in the rear bumper bar to warn you of any obstacle that you might have missed in the rear view mirrors.

FREEDOM 6 WAY SEATThis 6 Way Power Transfer Seat Base provides convenient and time saving transfers from wheelchair to driver or front passenger seat. Operation is simple. With a press of a fi nger, the fully automatic Power Transfer Seat Base swivels 90 degrees with individual controls from front to rear travel and height providing complete control and comfort.

FREEDOM LIFT SEATThis Seat base can bring the driver or passenger seat outside the vehicle to the wheelchair seat height for easy transferring. After Transferring, with a press of a button, the seat can be operated to lift and turn into the vehicle comfortably. Several models are available to suit different vehicles and positions.
