Our music video is Emeli Sandessong, Free. The music video is a narrative and will be based on two

young girls, in their late teens that are both stepping into the real world by themselves for the first time. The first girl will be the happy one because she will be enjoying her time. She will be with her friends and

enthusiastic about her education whereas the other girls life will be the opposite. She will be unhappyand stressed about her life. She will also be lonely and sad; there will be parallels between their lives, how their exposed to freedom and how they deal with it.

The happy girl will be leaving her home and her parents to go to university whilst the sad girl is leavingprison and is left on her own because she has no one around her or to look after her. The video will

follow their journeys to discover themselves and taste their newly given freedom. The video will be set ata Alperton train station, the Ealing Road high street, a lecture hall at school, a home located in Wembley, the King Edwards Park and the Harlesden Police Station. These settings help establish how ordinary andunordinary the girls lives are.

There will be continuity editing used to establish logical coherence to emphasise the transitions to showtime passing. Jump-cuts will also be used to give the effect of jumping forwards in time. There will also

be extreme close-ups to show the distress or the well-being of the characters. This also allows theaudience to see their reactions or tension.

The video will begin with a split screen showing long shots of both characters in the foregroundestablishing the setting and the start of their stories. The sad girl will be leaving prison and the otherhappy character will be leaving her home. Using the rule of thirds, the composition of the frame willestablish the home and the police station. The depth of field will be used to show the background so theaudience can see the location.

The next scene will be set at the train station. A long shot will be used to show the girl waiting for a trainat the platform and the train will pass. There will be an over the shoulder shot of someone with a hoodie

and their face is not shown and the other girl getting on the train. A medium shot will show the girl andher suitcase, reading her university pamphlet. An extreme close up/zoom in of the book into which afade out/zoom out will reveal the other girl and her journey on the train.

Next comes the school setting. A wide/crowd shot will be used to show the class from the back. A mid-

shot of the teacher will be assisted using the rule of thirds to show the slideshow, the board in the roomand to show that he is teaching. A medium close up will show the girl studying. This scene will show herbeing enthusiastic about her school-work and academic future.

The following scene will be an establishing shot of the prison girl leaving the station. Continuity editingwill be used to show her going to a shop and buying a drink. Jump-cuts will be included where the split

screen will be reintroduced which will contrast the student girl spending time with her friends and theother girl at the park until it gets dark. Camera angles will include both high and low angles to showsuperiority or inferiority of the characters, in certain situations. The end of the music video will show both

girls falling asleep. The happy character on her desk with books and paper everywhere using a low-anglelong shot will be portrayed as strong and able to get through life. On the other hand a high angle long

shot will show the prison girl falling asleep on the couch with the TV on. This will show her asvulnerable. This will show the two girls as binary opposites.

Our music video will be targeted at people from the ages 15-28. Our demographic are young people whoare still in the time of their lives where they are finding themselves whether it may be, thinking abouttheir future or even getting to the stage where they are trying to settle and be happy with what theyvechosen to do for the rest of their lives. People who are just getting a taste of their freedom and peoplewho are enjoy feeling liberated and to those who still feel as though they need a little assistance withorganising their busy jumbled lives or ideas. It will be easier for them to relate to the characters of themusic video.

The theme of freedom is explored and the difference in meaning to other people. Everyone does not see

freedom in the same light. It can be liberating for some and stressful to others. Our music video exploresthis idea deeper and depicts how the happy girls freedom is liberating and space for creative freedom

and the ability to find and be herself. On the other hand, the sad girls freedom isnt what some expect. After leaving jail and being in the system for so long, where every second of her life has been scheduledand closely observed, too much freedom can is a stressful time for her. It is solely up to her to take

charge of her own life and with the pressure from people expecting her to get her life together so quicklycan be a very upsetting and nerve-racking experience. Freedom depends on how your life is and whatyou know, what youve done and what youve gone through. It depends on your situation. Everyonesidea of freedom will not be parallel.
