KEWANNA, IN - FORMERLY OFWINAMAC, IN - Waldo E. “Butch”Ghormley, Jr., 60, died Sunday,January 26, 2020. He was born April18, 1959, in Huntington, Indiana, toWaldo E. and Sylvia (Eckert)Ghormley. On July 3, 2009, he marriedSandra Hurlburt.
Butch worked most of his life as awelder. He enjoyed collecting die castcars, working outdoors and spendingtime with his family and friends. Hewas a member of the Winamac VFWAuxiliary.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra,one son, William “Billy” (Brittany)Ghormley, one step son, Cody Doty,two step daughters: Misty Graham andJessica Harshman, ten grandchildren,his mother, Sylvia Ghormley and twosisters: Penny Webster and Janie(Richard) Pyle. He was preceded indeath by his father, Waldo Sr., oneinfant step grandson, Brady Grahamand two infant sisters: Patricia andDebbie Ghormley.
A Celebration of Life service was heldSaturday, February 1, at FrainMortuary. Memorial contributions maybe made to the funeral home to helpwith expenses.

WINAMAC, IN - Larry Dean Galbreath,77, died at 6:37am, Wednesday,January 29, 2020, at the Center forHospice Care in South Bend, Indiana.He was born August 23, 1942, inWinamac, Indiana, to the late Virgil L.and Zelma P. (Russell) Galbreath.
Larry graduated from Winamac HighSchool and studied electronic engi-neering at DeVry. He worked manyyears as a milkman for Dean’s inRochester, Indiana and as a deliveryman for Kent Elevator in Winamac. Hewas retired from TippecanoeBeverage, Winamac, where he workedfor over 40 years. Larry was a longtimemember of the Winamac ConservationClub and was a firearms instructor forPulaski County 4H Shooting SportsClub and for the Boy Scouts ofAmerica at Camp Buffalo. He was alsoan active volunteer with the Eric CoreyFoundation Turkey Tracks Hunt. Hewas a former member of the AmericanEagles. Larry was an avid bowler andenjoyed playing softball, cards with theMcDonald’s crew and doing genealo-gy. He loved his family.
He is survived by two sons: James(Jacalyn) Galbreath and WilliamGalbreath and one daughter, Laura(Jeff) Wolfe, all of Winamac, six grand-children and two great grandchildren
Services were held Monday,February 3, at Frain Mortuary, withRev. Edward Clark officiating. Burialwas in the Winamac Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be madeto the Eric Corey Foundation TurkeyTracks Hunt.

Tootie enjoyed family gatherings,watching and playing with the littleones, reading, collecting cookbooks,cookie jars and many other things. Sheliked to watch hummingbirds and otherwildlife, sharing jokes, Saturday morn-ing coffee and phone chats with oldfriends.
She is survived by her husband,Dick, three children: Kelly (JohnSavoie) Young of Argos, Indiana,Jason (Sue) Young of Rochester,Indiana and Joe (Cindy) Young ofHickory, North Carolina, six grandchil-dren, eight great grandchildren andthree siblings: Jerry Harness ofFlorida, Susan (Bob) Fort of Knox, indi-ana and Jeff Harness of Plymouth.She was preceded in death by siblings:LaVerne Harness, Loretta Pozorski,Lawrence Harness, Dick Harness,Peggy Harness and Merrill Harness.
Funeral services will be held at 11amEST, Thursday, February 6, at theLeiters Ford United Methodist Church.Visiting hours will be from 4-8pm EST,Wednesday, February 5, at RannellsFuneral Home and Thursday from 10-11am at the church. Alice worked for Harold Stafeldt in thePulaski County Courthouse and thenfor Chrysler in Detroit, Michigan formany years. She also worked at thePenrose Catholic Hospital in ColoradoSprings, Colorado. She was raised inthe Star City United Methodist Churchand was a member of the Eastern Starin Michigan. She enjoyed playingPinochle and traveling-having visitedall 50 states.
She is survived by one sister, DonnaBadger Freeman and several niecesand nephews. She was preceded indeath by her first husband, Harold“Doc” Swafford and her second hus-band, Russell Lucas, one sister,Margaret Badger Adams and one halfbrother, James Badger.
Services were held Friday, January31, at Frain Mortuary, with Pastor TomRichards officiating. Burial was in theStar City West Cemetery.

Russ was a member of the BassLake Property Owners Association. Heenjoyed building speed boats and bird-houses, traveling and spending timewith his family and friends. He hadbeen a Millwright Superintendent in theconstruction industry.He is survived by his wife, Evelyn, two
sons: Mark (Mary) Maranto ofPendelton, Indiana and Steven(Rebecca) Maranto of Chesterton,Indiana, one daughter, Lisa (Mark)Spoolstra of Portage, Indiana, eightgrandchildren, five great grandchildrenand one sister, Tina Fredrickson ofPortage.

KNOX, IN - Teresa Joan Stepien, 88,died Friday, January 31, 2020, inMokena, Illinois. She was bornSeptember 22, 1931, in Chicago,Illinois, to the late Joseph and Pearl(Gaedeke) Barnett. On September 11,1954, in Knox, she married EdwardStepien. He died April 12, 2011.
Joan was a graduate of Knox HighSchool and a former member of theBass Lake Pinochle Club and theStarke County Choralaires. She was afounding member of the St. VincentDePaul Society of Knox and a memberof St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Churchand a former volunteer at the StarkeCounty County Council of Aging andshe loved spending time with her fami-ly.
She is survived by five sons: Mark(Grace) Stepien of Myrtle Beach, SouthCarolina, Gregory (Diana) Stepien ofGrand Haven, Michigan, William(Thersa) Stepien of Oak Forrest,Illinois, John Stepien of Highland,Indiana and James (Therese) Stepienof Chicago, Illinois, two daughters:Carol (Tom) Bochenek of Orland,Illinois and Diana (Jack) Hemp ofWalled Lake, Michigan, eleven grand-children and one brother, RobertBarnett of Pensacola, Florida.
Friends will be received from 2-8pm,Wednesday, February 5, at Braman &Son Memorial Chapel. Services will beheld at 11am, Thursday, February 6, atSt. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church,with Father Stephen Loncar officiating.Burial will be in the Crown HillCemetery, Knox. Memorials may begiven to the St. Vincent DePaul Societyor Parkinson Research.

NJ-SP Alumni Dr. ChrisVerhagen, Kirt Verhagen andAmy Mosher recently presented
a donation over $5,000 from The Verhagen Family Fund to North Judson-San Pierre Schools to sup-port the new Tutoring and new Robotics programs at the school. The Verhagen Family Fund was estab-lished through the Starke County Community Foundation. Verhagen siblings Chris, Kirt and Amy alsoestablished the "Our Kids Excel" fund to provide grants to NJ-SP for a variety of programs and oppor-tunities a small school's budget might not be able to provide. The community can make donations in any amount to help continue programs like these (and others)by giving to the "Our Kids Excel" fund through the Starke County Community Foundation.
