FOUR IN FOUR BLOCKS:

1. Sew (1) B 2 ½" x WOF strip to (1) C 2 ½" xWOF strip. Press. Repeat to make (2) BC strip sets.Subcut strip set into (32) BC 2 ½" sets.

2. Repeat step 1 using B and E strips to make (32)BE 2 ½" sets.

3. Sew (1) BC set to (1) BE set, making sure Bsquares are opposite each other, Press. Repeat tomake (32) BCBE four patch sets.

4. Sew (1) A 4 ½" square to theleft side of (1) BCBE set – noterotations of four patch set.Make (16) A/Four patch sets.

5. Sew (1) D 4 ½" square to the rightside of (1) BCBE set – note rotations of four patch set. Make (16) D/Four patch sets.

6. Sew (1) A/Four patch set to the topof (1) D/Four patch set.Rotating so A and D are oppositeeach other.Make (16) Four in Four blocks.

QUILT ASSEMBLY:Refer to quilt diagram on next page for placement and rotation of blocks.7. Sew Blocks together in following order to make rows.

Row 1 – A 8 ½" x 16 ½", Four in Four block,D 8 ½" x 16 ½", Four in Four block

Row 2 – A 8 ½" square, Four in Four block, D 8 ½" x 16 ½", Four in Four block, F 8 ½" square

Row 3 - Four in Four block, D 8 ½" x 16 ½", Four in Four block, F 8 ½" x 16 ½"

Row 4 - D 8 ½" x 16 ½", Four in Four block, F 8 ½" x 16 ½", Four in Four block

Row 5 - D 8 ½" square, Four in Four block, F 8 ½" x 16 ½", Four in Four block, D 8 ½"square

Row 6 - Four in Four block, F 8 ½" x 16 ½", Four in Four block, D 8 ½" x 16 ½"

Row 7 - F 8 ½" x 16 ½", Four in Four block, D 8 ½" x 16 ½", Four in Four block

Row 8 - F 8 ½" square, Four in Four block, D 8 ½" x 16 ½", Four in Four block, A 8 ½" square

8. Sew rows together to make quilt center.

BORDERS:9. Sew (2) B 2 ¼" x WOF strips together at short ends.Sew to left side of quilt center. Repeat and sew to right side of quilt center. Press and trim.

10. Sew (3) B 2 ¼" x WOF strips together at short ends.Sew one to top, press and trim. Sew remaining strip tobottom, press and trim.

11. Repeat step 9 using G 4" x WOF strips.

12. Sew (2) G 4" x WOF strips together at short ends.Sew one to top and one to the bottom of quilt center.Press and trim.

FINISHING:Cut batting and backing 3" larger than top on all sides. Layer backing, batting and top and baste or pin. When quilting is completed trim excess batting and backing. Bind as usual.
