Important: Monitor your email for camp updates, new camp openings, and reminders! Seguin ISD is proud to once again offer student summer camps. These camps are free & for CURRENT Seguin ISD STUDENTS or 2017 GRADUATES ONLY. During early registration, students may select ONE camp appropriate for their grade level. Registration Information: Registration will open at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, May 8. Registration will be completed online at http://tinyurl.com/matcamp17. Parents/guardians may also receive assistance registering their child at any SISD campus. Do not send registration information to school. You must visit your child’s campus in person to receive registration assistance. IMPORTANT: STUDENTS MAY REGISTER FOR NO MORE THAN 1 CAMP EACH. Additional camps may be made available at a later date if registration numbers allow. Students who are registered for more than 1 camp will be unregistered for any extra sessions beyond their initial registration. Space is limited, and participation will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Once a camp is full, students may be added to a waiting list. Waiting lists do not count as an extra registration, and students on a waiting list CAN register for an alternative camp session. In the event of an opening in the camp where the student is on the wait list, parents will be notified and given the opportunity to change their child’s registration. 2017 MatCamp Offerings (Note: Grade levels are for the 2017-2018 school year.) Ballet Folklorico (Incoming Grades 3-8) Rodriguez Elem, June 5-8, 8:30 am - 11:30 am Participants will have experiences with dances from different regions of Mexico and various world cultures. No prior dance experience is required. The Folklorico dance camp will be taught by Teatro De Artes De Juan Seguin Artistic Director Noel De La Cruz. Archery (Incoming Grades 4-12) Patlan Elem, June 5-8, 8:30 am – 11:30 am Learn the proper way to participate in the exciting sport of archery. Archery is a fun and challenging activity for kids of all ages! Check out MatadorArchery.com for more info. Pedal Seguin (Incoming Grades 6-12) Mary B. Erskine School, June 5, 8 am – noon, June 6-8, 8 am – 3 pm The Pedal Seguin Camp will be an introduction to off-road bicycling. Students will learn the sport of mountain biking and associated skills. Students will ride at local public parks in Seguin on day 1, then travel by bus to nearby state and city parks to ride on day 2,3 and 4. All equipment will be provided. 3D Design and Printing (Incoming Grades 5-8) AJ Briesemeister Middle School, Jun 5-8, 8:30 am - 11:30 am Are you excited about 3D printing? Seguin ISD is! We will follow the same process as an industrial designer - putting an idea on paper, turning it into a 3D model using Tinkercad, and then bringing it to life with the 3D printer. Garden Camp (Incoming grades 1-5) Rodriguez Elem, June 12-15, 8:30 am - 11:30 am Come to Garden Camp to experience a fun way to learn about gardening and nutrition through hands-on gardening, art projects, and fun cooking activities. Seguin ISD is proud to once again offer student summer camps. These camps are free & for CURRENT Seguin ISD STUDENTS or 2017 GRADUATES ONLY. During early registration, students may select ONE camp appropriate for their grade level.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigations (Incoming Grades 3-5) Rodriguez Elem, June 19-22, 8:30 am - 11:30 am Fun, hands-on projects will put students’ critical thinking abilities to the test as they tackle exciting science & engineering challenges while processing & solving simulated crimes. Projects are planned to help the students develop valuable, 21st century skills such as collaboration, teamwork, communication, problem solving & critical thinking skills.

Art Camp: Paper Craftmania! (Incoming Grades 5-12) Barnes MS, June 19-22, 8:30 am - 11:30 am Do you enjoy creating things out of paper? Camp participants will select individual paper crafts to create. All materials are provided, but participants are encouraged to bring extra materials to embellish their pieces. Paper crafting projects may include collage, sculpture, installation, paper mache, origami, recyclable art, card making, jewelry design, & much more.

Force X Mass = Fun! (Incoming grades 4-8) Vogel Elem, June 19-22, 8:30 am – 11:30 am Experiment with HotWheels (speed, weight, distance), design, build, and fly balsawood airplanes, water rockets, combustion engine rockets....and have lots and lots of fun!!!

Cracking the Code (Incoming Grades 3-5) Rodriguez Elem, June 26-29, 8:30 am – 11:30 am Learn to code your way through fun puzzles with your favorite characters. You even get to make your own video game.

Go Time! (Incoming grades 1-3) Koennecke Elem, July 10-13, 9 am-11 am Are you missing your favorite time of the school day? Looking for a place to play with other students? Do you need to get some physical activity? No one is better than our Seguin ISD PE teachers to help you have fun and get some exercise. Join your friends for two hours of great PE activities.

Endangered Animal Art (Incoming Grades 3-5) Weinert Elem, July 17-20, 8:30 am – 11:30 am Like animals? Like art? Let's put the two together to create images of some of our favorite animals using a variety of media.

Chess Champions (Incoming Grades 3-5) Koennecke Elem, July 17-20, 8:30 am – 11:30 am Learn how to play chess in just 3 days! Chess will improve your mental ability to focus & problem solve. On the last day of camp, we will hold a chess tournament where you will have the chance to win a trophy or medal.

Adventure School at HEB Camp (Incoming Grades 7-12) HEB Camp, July 25-27, overnight Adventure School will provide students an opportunity to kayak, mountain bike, rock climb and rappel, snorkel, and hike at the beautiful HEB Foundation camp in Leakey. This camp will be an overnight program. Students will need to provide their own sleeping bag and or sheets/blankets and personal items. Food and recreation equipment will be provided. This camp will be limited to 12 boys and 12 girls.

Matador Adventurers (Incoming Grades 7-12) M. B. Erskine School, July 31-Aug 2, 8 am–noon; Aug 3, 8 am–5 pm Matador Adventure Camp will challenge students to a new adventure every day of the week. Students will travel to nearby state and city parks to kayak, mountain bike, and hike. All equipment will be provided.

Paddle Seguin (Incoming Grades 6-12) Mary B. Erskine School, Aug 7-10, 8 am--noon Paddle Seguin is a camp that will introduce students to the lifelong sport of Kayaking. Participants will paddle on local waterways around Seguin. All equipment will be provided.

Mariachi Project (Incoming Grades 3-12) Jim Barnes MS, Aug 7-10, 8:30 am – 11:30 am The camp will be for all skill levels, beginner or advanced. The camp is designed to introduce mariachi elements to beginners and to strengthen the skills of the advanced mariachi student. Student instruments not provided.

Important Note: Transportation to and from camps is the responsibility of the parent or guardian.
