GENERAL INFORMATION
Commercial Name: LIPOPLAST
Description:
Fredcolor offers a wide range of colour dyestuffs for use in masterbatches,
preparations and compounds - the commercial name of those products is: LIPOPLAST.
The wide range of LIPOPLAST colours provides excellent tint strength and a great
transparency in various polymers. In opaque tones, in combination with Titanium Dioxide, they
also provide an excellent yield even in small doses.
The melt point of the LIPOPLAST dyestuffs should be kept in mind for their total distribution
in the polymer. Whenever the melt point of the dyestuff is lower than the melt point of the
resin, a total homogenisation will be obtained.
Applications: The following polymers have been tested with LIPOPLAST:
GPPS - POLYSTYRENE (GENERAL PURPOSE)
PMMA – POLYMETHYL METACRYLATE
PC - POLYCARBONATE
PA6 - POLYAMID 6
ABS – ACRYLONITRILE BUTADIENE STYRENE
PET – POLYETHYLENE TEREPHTALATE
Other applications:
Powder coatings, SAN (Styrene Acrylonitrile), Phenolic resins, Solvents,
Soaps, Varnishes, Acetobutyrate of Cellulose, Petroleum, Acrylic Resins, Explosives and Lubricant
Oils.
It is for these applications that we have mentioned the solubility of LIPOPLAST in different
solvents.
Warning:
In formulations containing plasticisers, the stability should be checked to prevent migration,
in order to avoid possible problems in the final product.
METHODS OF ANALYSIS
LIGHTFASTNESS
The samples have been tested according to ISO 105B02, using the scale of blue 1-8 (Blue wool scale) .
The minimum stability is 1 while the maximum is 8.
STABILITY TO MIGRATION
Tested in a coloured batch in contact with another batch of the same polymer containing 1% of TiO2
During 3 days at 50 ºC. No observed stain is considered as “N” not migratory; in the event of some
Discoloration taking place, it is denominated “migratory Mo”(moderated).
HEAT STABILITY
Tested in an injection-moulding machine with a permanency in the screw of 5 minutes.
When the Delta AND is above 1.7, it means 4 in the INTERNATIONAL scale of GRAY,: when it indicates
5, it means that the coloured resin has not experienced any change.
The heat stability has been based on cycles without interruption in the resins, as indicated in this
information sheet.
The dilutions illustrated in the LIPOPLAST catalogue have been obtained with the following proportions:
TLL: 0.05% OF DYESTUFF
TR: 0.05% OF DYESTUFF + 0.5% OF TITANIUM DIOXIDE (KRONOS 2222)
