Fred & Rhonda Inman “I” Wood Artist bio 2016 Fred born 1955, worked for Phelps Dodge/Rae Magnet Wire retiring after 39 yrs 2016. Rhonda born 1961, still working for Fort Wayne Newspapers (37 years in 2016) We both grew up in Huntertown, raised our family of 4 kids on a 60 acre farm with cattle, pigs, sheep, goats, cats/dogs, & we farmed the ground for years. In 2006 I “Fred” started watching wood turning videos and thought I would give it a try, I still love it and I’m pretty good at it. It takes a lot of love for wood, imagination & the still to learn how to hold the tools. We try to use a lot of wood that is down from storms, and around to NE Indiana area. We also use a little exotic woods in our art. I also put my wife Rhonda Inman on the lathe, she also loves to turn, but also love to work with the scroll saw, making wildlife portraits, lots of different Christmas ornaments (turned & compounds) & Intarsia art. Since we started turning in 2006 we have made a wine cabinet together for our home. Then we got into making natural edge bowls, segmented bowls, jewelry boxes, vases small & large, wildlife portraits, Christmas ornaments on the lathe & scroll saw. Dec. 2014 Fred Inman accepted into the Indiana Artisan state group. AWARDS 2015 Renaissance in Roanoke Indiana Art Show “Best in Wood Sculpture” 2015 Art in the Park at 3 Rivers Festival, Fort Wayne, IN “Judges Choice” 2015 How Bazaar Art Show, Jackson MI “Honorary Mention” 2015 Garrett Museum of Art, Garrett IN “Judges Choice with Burl Vase” Turning helps us relax & enjoy life.
