GENERAL MANAGER’S REPORT
2015 will be recorded as a defining year in the history of the Frankston Football Club.
After much lobbying and planning the new social rooms construction began and were
completed with the building being officially opened at a grand ceremony on September
25th, 2015 by Mayor Sandra Mayer along with other dignitaries.
The administration and governance of the club was severely tested with the resignations
of Presidents and committee members, new committee members being appointed to the
committee and the incumbent General Manager being stood down and replaced. AFL Vic
and the Frankston City Council (both major stakeholders of the club) imposed compliance
reporting measures to ensure the operations and administration of the club both on and off
the field improved and were sustainable.
On field both our senior and development sides endured extremely tough seasons. Given
the late appointment of the senior coach, lack of resources and the severely under financed
position of the football department this was to be expected. The coaching and playing
groups remained focused and resolute in their determination to be competitive and improve
and I’m sure with an increase to resources availability and change of process 2016 will see
this happen.
The five current committee members, together with club staff, have by applying due
diligence and the implementation of process and procedure ensured a level of stability,
good governance and measured financial management that has resulted in the now
improved operating of the club.
Ongoing review of operational procedures across all areas of the club must continue to
ensure the club is compliant where required and at the fore front of development,
progression and success to ensure the longevity of this great club.
I wish to thank the staff, members and supporters for their support during the past few
turbulent months and look forward to working towards returning the Frankston Football
Club to the sound and prosperous organisation it should be.
BRETT ANGWIN

Annual General Meeting – December 18th, 2014 8
2015 was a very tough year on the field for the young Dolphins team. We started the year with a mere 300 games of senior VFL experience with Hockey, Buchanan and Tynan making up nearly 200 of those games between them. To put that into perspective, when we battled Sandringham in round 4, their team boasted nearly 600 games of AFL experience. The loss of key players at the start of the year was always going to be hard replace. But through adversity, comes opportunity and we were able to get nearly 400 games into our younger players. Players like Ben Cavarra, Josh Pickess, Nathan Gardiner, Nathan Foote and Josh Newman took giant strides in their development as they established themselves as genuine senior VFL footballer. We also added 12 players from the Stingrays and watched Kyle Grey, Blake Mullane and Aaron Wilson made an impact in their first season. We also welcomed some outstanding recruits to the club. Kalem Post and Brandon Wood made the move from Box Hill and James Wilson (Port Melbourne) and John Cooper (Coburg) helped to add some bigger bodies to our list. However, despite the positive progression the boys displayed in their development, and the ferocity at which they attacked each contest and each game, we were a long way off the mark. Competing in the second best competition in Australia was a tough ask for these young men and unfortunately our performances tailed off as the season went on. This was an inevitable result given our list, but may prove a blessing in years to come. While the need for target recruiting will be addressed over the next two or three years, the value of games into these young men will bear fruits in the years to come, provided they stay together. It must be noted that despite the pain of a winless season the attitude of our young Dolphins was first class from start to finish. Their perseverance, resilience and absolute hunger to improve was amazing to watch. The character of our players is first class and should be commended. Despite the doom and gloom of on-field results, as a football department we were able to take some positive steps in 2015. To keep up with the top teams we needed to have a critical look at how we ran our football department and how the players developed, trained and behaved. Some of the changes we were able to implement in 2015 include:
- 4 new coaches were added to the coaching group from a variety of backgrounds to allow greater player access and engagement. Working for nothing, their professionalism and work ethic was outstanding. Now coming into their second year they are well placed to take greater control of their areas.
- The club was very fortunate to appoint Ben Griffin to the important position of Head of Conditioning. Ben brought with him a wealth of experience after 4 years at the Western Bulldogs and 4 years at Box Hill. Together with his assist, Trent Pirihi and the clubs medical staff, the players now have a better understanding of what is required to play at this level.
- Introduced the Dolphins Academy for first year players. This Academy was run by former Hawthorn Footballer Beau Muston and was designed to help players transition from TAC Cup/local football and fast track their development. In 2016 this program will be extended to first and second year players.
- Implemented a new fresh game plan comparable to the top teams in the AFL. Whilst it can be difficult to grasp in the first year, the players are now in a good position to take their football to a new level.
- Redevelopment of the player’s rooms to include a player theatre for preparation and review of matches, new coach’s area, restructure of the players locker area and the relocation of the gym to open up a warm up area suitable for game day.
COACH’S REPORT

Annual General Meeting – December 18th, 2014 9
2016 will again see more changes in the football department as we strive for best practice standards. With the Function Centre now up and running, and coaches boxes available for the first time in a year, it envisaged a much smoother game day experience this season for coaches and players alike. It is also imperative that as a club we have stability at board and executive level in 2016. As mentioned above, the players were incredibly resilient last season, however we cannot have a repeat of the off field instability in the future. It damages our brand, our confidence and our ability to recruit the right people into the club. Having said that, we have begun this season on a positive note with 14 players recruited that will add greater depth to our playing list and add some top end class. 3 more coaches have come onboard with a background in junior/adolescent development which will greatly enhance our ability to get the very best out of our returning players. Lastly, I would like to thank all our members and supporters for the incredible support we received last year. Rain, hail and shine, the hill was full, the lads were loud and Frankston Park was jumping. Rest assured the players are doing all they can to return that loyalty and in 2016, begin the long climb back to the top. Go Dolphins!! Patrick Hill Senior Coach

MEDICAL STAFF Many thanks to Dr. Sachin Khullar from MP Sports Physicians,
our Physio Michael Chamberlain from Back in Motion and all training staff for keeping our players in peak
condition for the season.

HONORARY STAFF
A big thank you goes out to all those people who donated their time to the Club – your help & support is greatly appreciated by all.
Many of our Match Operations staff only receive petrol
money for their many hours of dedicated work. We could not survive without their fantastic efforts.
“We strive to provide a long term, ever changing and exciting venue for buyer and seller alike, catering to both the young and young at heart.
We’re hugely proud of the wide variety of goods, services and entertainment that are showcased each and every Sunday. We are very much a community based market with a strong emphasis on meeting the needs of the people of Frankston, Southern
suburbs and the Mornington Peninsula.
We welcome stallholders and patrons from all over Melbourne whilst actively encouraging all to participate and enjoy all the fun of
the fare that is a true Frankston icon.”
