It would be great if you and your families came to support your local farmers and their farms at our local market. This newsletter will serve to recognize the hard-working farmers in the area, a delicious recipe or two containing a vegetable or fruit from the Market and what may be available each week at the Market. The market is located in the Shannon Village shopping center parking lot. Every Tuesday and Friday the Farmer's market will open at 9:00 am and will shut down once the last fruit or veggie is sold. On Saturday, the market will open at 8:00am. Fresh this week... Franklin County Farmer's MarketFranklin County Farmer's Market is back! It would be great if you and your families came

The market is located in the Shannon Village shopping centerparking lot. Every Tuesday and Friday the Farmer's market will

Plants:planted flowers (verbena and zinnia)

Specialties:Fresh eggs, pecans, herbs (mint and basil), seasonings, homemade bread (banana,sweet potato, zucchini, apple nut, etc.), jams (strawberry, grape, plums, apple, etc.),

afghans (price range: $25-65), pies( coconut, chocolate, sweet potato, etc.)

Food Tasting for the CommunityWe had the pleasure of co-hosting Food Tasting for the Community with two amazing chefs,

Mr. Jim Pfifferling and Ms. Tamika Houze, from Louisburg college.Last Friday, Mr. Pffifferling demonstrated for us how to create another version of our traditionalSouthern potato salad. If you didn't get a chance to try it first hand, here is a link to the recipe

so you may try it at homeWe would like to thank Mrs. Peggy Wood and Mr. Tommy Neal for donating the red potatoes

and the jalapenos for the chef's tasting.Thank you all for supporting our Food Tasting for the community and we hope you will continue

Recipe of the Week...Garlic Mashed PotatoesIngredients:

6 medium potatoes cut intochuncks1 1/2 c. lowfat milk3 tbsp. margarine4 cloves of galic, minced1/8 tsp. salt

1/8 tsp. pepperDirections:Cook potatoes in 2 inches boiling water, covered for about 10 minutesuntil tender. Let cool, and drain throughly.Mash potatoes with potato masher. Place milk, margarine, and garlic insaucepan and simmer. Slowly pour potatoes in mixture and beat until fluffy. Add milk ifnecessary. Season with salt and pepper.
