Student Voice
Kian Knight & Blaze Symons are our budding journalists for
Student Voice this week. They are discussing the Mogo Excursion,
and upcoming events at Franklin.
Blaze:
Kian:
Hi, my name is Kian and I am in Year 6 Lawson. I
like Science at school and my favourite sport is
swimming, especially breaststroke. I have a cat
named Drago and we live with my Mum, Dad,
brother and Nan and Pop.
Last week’s
big news
was the
Stage 2
Mogo
excursion. I
spoke with
Lincoln
Jaques about his experience. Lincoln said
“The whole excursion was great. My favourite
parts were the gold panning and the bush
dance which was the best fun. At the zoo I really
liked watching
the giraffes. I
think even the
teachers had
heaps of fun.”
Today at
Franklin we held
a service for
Remembrance
Day with a
minutes silence
at 11am. This
day marks the
end of WW1
and I think it’s
important to stop and remember all those
Anzac soldiers who defended our country in the
wars.
A reminder to Year 6 students that we have a
full transition day at Tumut High School on
Friday 22nd November. We will get a timetable
and attend classes like we will in Year 7.
Students are to wear their school uniform on
this day. Thank you for reading Student Voice.
Hi, my name is Blaze and I am in Macarthur. Maths is my favourite subject at school and I love to ride my BMX bike. At home I have 2 cats and a dog named Rusty.
The Proud and Deadly Awards are on today at 4.30pm at Bila Park. All students are reminded to wear their school uniform.
We have a busy end of year coming up at Franklin with Community Sport, Assemblies, Farewells and Class parties.
The Year 6 Farewell Dinner is being held on Tuesday 10th December at Club Tumut. All Year 6 students and their parents are invited to attend. Notes for this event will go home shortly.
A Message from the Principal:
WEAR our UNIFORM WITH PRIDE We are drawing close to the end of the school year. 2019 has proven to be successful and we have achieved outstanding results, improved learning outcomes and achieved great successes. School uniform is something which we require our students to take great pride in wearing. The school uniform for both boys and girls is: green basketball shorts and our school shirt, tunics and skorts for girls, green track pants and school jumpers on cooler days.
SOCKS are to be black or white ONLY. SHOES are to be black.
We have some important celebrations coming up in the next couple of weeks and would like all students to be proud of wearing their school uniform every day.

Celebrating Reading!
Last week Franklin students took part in The Great Book
Swap which celebrated reading locally while raising mon-
ey. Miss Page and the SRC would like to thank all the
students and families that supported this great cause! In
combination with our raffle we raised an incredible $780
which will go towards much-needed books for Indige-
nous kids in remote communities.
Special thanks goes to Rebecca Connolly who was an in-
tegral part of this fundraiser!
Stage 2 Mogo Excursion
Parents and family waved farewell to 65 Stage 2 students last Wednesday as they headed off for another exciting 2 night
excursion to Mogo. Franklin Public School holds educational excursions for all students and they are greatly anticipated
and always enjoyed.
The bus departed at 7:30 am and the first stop was Murrumbateman for recess
and then Braidwood for lunch. Next stop was Malua Bay Beach, where students
splashed about and had boogie board and sand castle competitions. As a treat,
Mr Reddy bought what he described as the largest supply of fish and chips he
had ever seen.
Students and teachers dusted off
the sand, boarded the bus, drove to
their accommodation, unpacked
and enjoyed a bit of free time (well
the students did). After a hearty
meal at the Gold Digger’s Tavern, students heard some fascinating stories
about Aboriginal culture from a local Yuin man around the campfire. Every-
one enjoyed marshmallows before hitting the hay for a good night’s rest.
Day 2 was even more action packed as students headed off to the mag-
nificent Mogo Zoo. They also visited Gold Rush Village where they
panned for gold, saw a real life blacksmith ply his trade and attended a
school from the 1800s. The difference between education now and then
really hit home for many students who were happy they are students of
2019. The souvenir and lolly shop did good business with the Franklin
students keen to buy treats for themselves and
their families. Following this the team headed
back to the Gold Rush Inn for a dip in the pool,
dinner and some more fun and learning tradi-
tional bush dances with the ClydesDales Folk band. Students slept well after such a big day as
did teachers and the brave parents who joined the trip.
The final day saw students pack the bus for their return to Tumut. On the drive back they visited Broulee Island walk and Bungendore. Students arrived back home to the welcoming arms of family, tired but excited to share the tales of another terrific ex-cursion. Thanks to all staff and parents who attended and to Goodes Coaches for the safe delivery of the precious cargo.
Winners of the SRC Book Swap Raffle:
Sophie Wentworth, Kierra Jeffery and Denise Beavan.
Thank you to everyone who bought tickets and supported our SRC.

Along with nearly 1 million students across Australia—
Franklin Public were in fine voice last Thursday singing
“We Are”. Music Count Us In is a celebration of music
in schools.
Positive News from our Mogo Excursion
Franklin Public is a PBL school and we really encourage our students to follow the PBL values at all times. It
is always wonderful to hear positive feedback from people in the community about the excellent behaviour
of our students. Last week Mrs Stuckey received a letter from the proprietors of the Mogo Lolly Shop,
which our Stage 2 students visited on their recent excursion. The letter said “I wanted to write to you to
commend the students on their exemplary behaviour today in our shop. They were well behaved and ex-
tremely polite, a credit to your school and their parents.”
Well done Stage 2 students for following our PBL values.

For the last 2
terms Cook has
been lucky
enough to be
involved in the
Rainbow yoga
program that is
ran by Laura
Martin from the
SaCC. The
students have
learnt a variety
of yoga poses
and have been able to go on mindfulness journeys.
Here Cook are using
their Area skills to
measure their hand.
Student had to trace
their hand and then
glue fruit loops in-
side the area their
hand had taken up.
Students are
again working
on their
