Most of them have to do with health, wealth, or romance, but let’s step out of the realm of the personal for a moment. Do you make resolutions for your business? If not, maybe you should. Forbes recently published an article detailing five New Year’s resolutions every business person should make. It’s an interesting list because the resolutions are broad enough and vague enough to apply to virtually any type of business. On the other hand, they are practical and make a lot of business sense. Here are the five suggestions in a nutshell: 1. Know how to describe why people need your help 2. Define intermediate steps to a long-term goal 3. Don’t complain: Act 4. If you don’t like the weather, change your environment 5. Increase your value to friends and co-workers Aren’t those simple and practical? Most people, when they start writing down and verbalizing New Year’s resolutions, turn their resolutions into something about themselves. But a business should be centering its goals (and resolutions) on its customers. So when you do start resolving to improve your business processes, financial situation, etc., frame your resolution around the needs of your customers employees. Here are three practical examples: 1. Our business resolves to provide the best customer service we’ve ever delivered 2. We will strive to improve the X line of product and reduce customer dissatisfaction 3. Chamber InformationThe Frankfort Chamber of Commerce Board Meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday of each calendar month. Suggestions or comments are welcome at regularly scheduled Board meetings during Public Comment. All requests to speak at a Chamber Board Meeting must be submitted in writing to the Chamber office no later than the 10th day of each month to be included on that month’s Board Agenda. The Board President recognizes visitors who are on the agenda, maintains order during the meeting, and calls an end to public comment when deemed appropriate.

Happy 2016 New Year!I’m going to start off by making a prediction: This will be a year of change! Tangible change! You will see changes in the Frankfort Chamber that will give you the opportunity to make a positive impact in your business and build strong relationships benefiting you for years to come.
As your new President, I am excited and proud to lead the Chamber Board along this new path. The Board’s collective focus will be set on providing greater benefits to Chamber members by developing new opportunities to grow your business. Our new Executive Director Alicia Joebgen will play a key role in this effort. Alicia has significant experience creating programs to benefit members as well as explaining how to make the most of your Chamber Membership. Her abilities will be put to good use in the position of co-chair of the newly formed committee “Member Recruitment and Retention”. In this role, she will work with current Members to identify the most important items on their Business wish list and create ways to address those needs.
There are many changes on the Board as well. New Board Members Kris McGuire, Gretchen Dust, Craig Lyons and Andrew Wright bring extensive knowledge, passion and experience to our Chamber Board this year. Together we will identify and address real issues that affect business today. In order to more effectively address these issues we have reformed several of our committees. In addition to the newly created Member R&R committee, we have added an Events committee which will promote Members networking in a fun yet professional atmosphere.
Frankfort Chamber of Commerce mission is clear: “Foster a healthy business climate through voluntary partnerships”. We have an energetic Board in place to make some changes – but we can always use a fresh set of eyes to help us see the big picture – so if you would like to sit on a committee please let Alicia know. Hopefully we will see you soon!

Frosty the Snowman will be at the Winter on the Green - Winter Carnival on Sunday, January 17th from 1-3 pm at Breidert Green (White & Kansas Streets). This is a FREE outdoor event! Stay warm by the bonfire with hot cocoa and cookies! Dads dance with your little girl at our annual Daddy Daughter Dance, “Sweet Memories”, on Friday, February 5, or Saturday, February 6 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Founders Community Center, 140 Oak Street, $9/NR $12 per person. Chili Cook-Off is scheduled for Sunday, January 31st. F.A.W.N. - The Frankfort Area Women’s Network held their Annual Holiday event at Dancing Marlin on Monday, November 30th. Those attended purchase raffle tickets and all the proceeds (over $1,600) were given to the Frankfort Township Food Pantry to benefit those in need within our community. Everyone who attended enjoyed the night by mingling with each other and listening to Peter Miletic from the Red Head piano bar in Chicago.
Meet, Greet and Network - The Meet & Greet committee is gearing up for the 2016 season which begins in February. Mark your calendars to join us on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. New and exciting things will be happening this year. Please join us to learn how to take advantage of all the things the Chamber offers. Loads of networking opportunities at this meeting allowing you to introduce yourself to fellow chamber members.
Midnight Madness - On Friday, December 11th numerous businesses participated in Midnight Madness which started at 6:00 p.m. and went until midnight. Here shoppers had the opportunity to shop locally for discounted Christmas presents. For those who came out the weather was mild and everyone had a great time!

2016 January and February Calendar of EventsAll events take place at the Chamber Office unless otherwise stated.
Accounts will be considered delinquent after thirty days of non-payment and an initial notice will be mailed. A second notice will be mailed after sixty days of non-payment. If no action is taken by the delinquent member, the account will be presented to the Board of Directors upon 90 days of delinquency. Unless specifically approved by the Board of Directors, all members greater than 90 days delinquent will be dropped from the membership.
If a member renews within the grace period (90 days), the member will continue their membership based on their initial anniversary date. Once the member has been dropped from the membership, upon renewal they will be treated as a new member. Reviewed, Revised & Adopted: June 2015.
