For starters, this is a painting that he made during the end of 17th century, and the painting’s name is called “La Maja Desnuda” which is Spanish and it means The naked Maja, and obviously it is a painting of a naked woman, and you can see that she is reclining on a bed of pillows with a smiling face:) And this painting is renowned for the straightforward and unashamed gaze of the model towards the viewer, at that time, due to the strict restrictions on the feudal despotism and the referee of Spain, there are very few naked women in the history of Spanish painting, even in the mirror and furniture decoration, are not allowed to appear naked image.
And as you can see, there’s another painting which is similar to the naked maja, and the name of this painting is La maja vestida, and it’s called the clothed maja which is really interesting. The identity of the model and why the paintings were created are unknown. And there’re many different stories about it that explain why there’s another clothed one but those stories are just hypothesizes.
It has been conjectured that the woman depicted was Godoy's young mistress and in addition, the most interesting hypothesis is: the woman in this painting
was a wealthy wife. The wealthy asked Goya to paint
a whole body for her. However, Goya marveled at
the beauty of the lady, especially her warm and
plump body induced the artist's nude painting impulse,
so after painting the portrait, the painter immediately
returned to his studio with the memory of this piece
Nude painting, who knows accidentally leaked the
message, the wealthy knows this thing, he thought it
was his teasing and profanity, so he decided to duel
with this painter. The painter in advance to get a
friend's notice, and draw another painting with really
high speed which is the “the clothed maja”. When the
reckless businessman pulled the sword into the place,
and it was embarrassing to see that clothed lady
was lying there. Anyway, in my own opinion this legendary story shouldn’t be the truth.

And the naked and clothed maja paintings influenced a lot at that time in Spain, then the government collected
it. Nowadays, “the naked maja” and “the clothed maja” are in the Prado Museum in Spain and as you see, they are
putting side by side.
This is the next art which is also painted by Goya, and it is painted after the naked maja in 1814, and as you can see from the art it is describing about the Peninsular War happened in Spain, and this painting is called “The
Third of May 1808” This painting reflects the historical events of the 1808 people's resistance to Napoleon's aggression. In this picture, Goya did not regard the insurgents as losers, but portrayed them as heroic,
frightening heroes, in stark contrast to those who were weakly executed.
This is a companion to the painting The Third of May 1808 and the name is called “The Second of May 1808” .It depicts one of the many people's
rebellions against the French occupation of Spain that sparked the Peninsular War and the beginning of the uprising when the Mamelukes of the French Imperial Guard are ordered to charge and subdue
the rioting citizens.
