ABOUT THE ST. CROIX FOUNDATION The St. Croix Food & Wine Experience is the annual benefit for the St. Croix Foundation for Community Development, a 501(c)3 civic organization that addresses the socioeconomic needs of the entire US Virgin Islands through our programmatic work in education, historic preservation, community and economic development, public safety, and fiscal sponsorship of smaller nonprofits. For 25 years, the Foundation has been committed to identifying emerging needs in the community and forging innovative solutions by leveraging scarce resources. Nationally recognized by the National School Boards Association, the National Youth Leadership Council, the International Downtown Association and the US Small Business Administration for our comprehensive community development and education work, St. Croix Foundation directs all proceeds from the St. Croix Food & Wine Experience towards high impact projects that benefit the people of our Virgin Islands. For more information about the Foundation's programs, visit www.stxfoundation.org.

WHY IT MATTERS

Sponsors Make a Difference! Named as one of the top 10 international food and wine events by ForbesTravel.com, the St. Croix Food & Wine Experience has raised over $1.5 million for St. Croix Foundation community-based programs for over 10 years. In addition to the charitable work it supports, the event series serves as a vocational pipeline, funding internships with our guest celebrity chefs and partners for local culinary students. And, as a part of the Foundation’s belief in leveraging resources and maximizing impact, the Food and Wine Experience also brings millions of dollars of revenue into the Virgin Islands economy by attracting a growing number of visitors traveling from abroad to “Experience” St. Croix’s culinary diversity and expertise.

Since its inception, proceeds from the Food and Wine Experience have been invested into programs and broadbased initiatives that have netted deep, systemic impact in all of the Foundation’s priority areas. But even with our track record of success, the Territory’s current economic ‘storm’ and its attendant consequences has spurred us to redouble our efforts to support initiatives that will have a direct impact on the economic health of our Community.

YOUR SPONSORSHIP DOLLARS WILL SUPPORT:

PUBLIC SAFETY Recognizing a direct connection between economic growth and public safety, St. Croix Foundation will dedicate significant focus on this priority area in the months ahead. Extending our partnership with the Virgin Islands Police Department to provide resources and support for targeted projects including the upgrade and installation of a state-of-the-art security camera system, and providing flexible support that is responsive to emerging needs. Our goal is to build community ‘confidence’ and incentivize economic activity while deterring the criminal element festering in our community.

WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT There is a social contract that responsible Corporate Citizens and Civic Organizations in all healthy societies must uphold to ensure a safe place for the most vulnerable members of a Community. St. Croix Foundation is fulfilling our social contract with our at-risk through our Youth Training & Internships Programs. Honing in on what the Foundation has deemed our Territory’s invisible demographic (young men who are often undereducated, unskilled, unemployed and not yet in trouble with the law), we are providing structured and nurturing on-the-job-training opportunities, long-term internships and full-time employment. Through our workforce development programs, the Foundation is connecting our youth, our civic organizations, and local and national corporate partners to create a safety net for the most vulnerable members of our society. And, we are challenging our FWE sponsors to GIVE OUR YOUTH A CHOICE, AND A CHANCE BY BEING A CHAMPION, through your sponsorship of the 2015 Food and Wine Experience!

EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE Finally, with growing clarity about the inextricable link between a Community’s educational system and its economic capacity to grow, SCFCD is acutely aware of the critical role of highly effective teachers in the overall state of our education system and, in turn, the success of the Territory’s students. A proposed teaching laboratory, currently in development in partnership with the Department of Education, the Board of Education and the University of the Virgin Islands, seeks to provide teacher-training, and will serve as a hub of educational excellence in the Caribbean. IT’S AMBITIOUS. IT’S INNOVATIVE. AND, IT’S NECESSARY.
