Family Radio has taken another step in its move to a new headquarters with the completion of the purchase of a building in nearby Alameda, California. The new offices will, Lord willing, better serve our technical and financial needs, as well as, provide tremendous annual savings on building-lease and upkeep costs. Annual savings will reduce Family Radio’s operational expenses, helping to strengthen the overall ministry and free-up important funds for other broadcast- related expenses. Included in the plans are a new chapel for prayer, weekly Bible Studies, and other Family Radio gatherings, as well as, more efficient studios, offices, computer server rooms, and a new Net-control operational center for monitoring all of Family Radio’s stations and translators. Throughout its history Family Radio has moved its headquarters several times. Ini- tially, in the city of San Francisco, from where it started in downtown, to the Por- tola Valley district, to a storefront on San Bruno Ave. Then, in 1971 Family Radio moved across the Bay to its long time Oakland location. With the move to our new headquarters, we trust that God is preparing Family Radio for the next step in His plan. Please join us in offering our thanksgiving to Our Lord for His generous provision - and please continue to pray for us as we begin the necessary renovations of our new home. Many people think, that wonderful verseteaches that if we confess our sins, we canbe saved as a result of that confession, right at that moment. If you isolate thisverse, it can give that impression.

Theoretically that can be possible, but itis a verse that really shows us our condi-tion and our need for Christ. It indicatesa path we can walk. But we know fromthe rest of the Bible that nothing we docan save us. We can repeat this verseagain and again, and still be just as un-saved. Salvation is God’s work entirely, and we wait upon God to do His workof saving, if He has chosen to save us.

As we walk with God and talk aboutthese things, and search the Bible formore information, we have a desire to beclear of our sins. When God saves us, wecome to understand that all of our sinshave been paid for by the Lord JesusChrist. Then when we begin to sensethat God is working in our lives, webegin to look at our sin differently thanbefore. I realize my desires are changing.I want more and more to only do God’swill. That must come into my life assomething very important, and maybethere is hope for me that I, too, am be-coming a child of God.

1 John 1:9 is written in the context ofrecognizing that we are a sinner whoneeds to confess his sin. Even after we aresaved, sin continues to plague us. Tomake confession of sin is a necessary partof our relationship with God. “If we con-fess our sin” indicates that we must besure that we do confess our sins. He –God, Himself – is faithful and just toforgive our sins. What a promise! He isfaithful and just and will certainly forgiveus. We can depend upon it, because thisis the Word of God, from God’s mouth.God is faithful and just! Praise God – Hehas forgiven my sins!

And He cleanses us from all unrighteous-ness. Why does He say “all?” BecauseGod is assuring us that He will forgive allof our sins. Not just some of our unrigh-teousness - all unrighteousness. This isGod’s declaration. God says plainly that

He reacts to our confession. When we are a child of God, we want totry to be as obedient to Christ as possi-ble, because sin continues to plague us.We don’t hesitate to cry out to Him formercy. The wonderful thing is that themore we go to Christ begging for for-giveness, the more our relationship withChrist grows. We should want to stayclose to Christ. We want Him to be ourSavior, and our only Savior. We knowthat Christ – the One we are learningabout and learning to love devotedly –will forgive us. Praise God for that kindof a Savior - Someone who makespromises and keeps His promises.

We know that He has promised to for-give our sins, but we want and need thatright relationship all the time. That issomething we need to cultivate, becauseby nature we also think we need theworld. We don’t need it at all, but wethink we do. We need the world like weneed poison! Confessing our sins willbring us closer to Christ, and help ushave victory over all our sins. We wantto be like Christ; that is our goal.

So as Christians, we want to confess oursins to God regularly, as we strive to gainvictory over all sin. But what does itmean to confess our sins? To confess isnot just to say nice words to God. Itmeans to be completely honest withGod; to turn away from sin and ask for

mercy for that sin, and hold nothingback as we confess our needs. As a child of God we are to hate the sinin our life so badly that it is making usexceedingly uncomfortable. It is ruiningour relationship with God. Sin shouldhave no part in our life; it should becompletely alien to us. Have you got thatclearly in your minds? This is the natureof a child of God. So when we see sin inour life we are to cry to God for help andmercy.

But if there is no change as far as sinhaving residence in our life, then we arein trouble with God and we must dealwith that by again crying out to God formercy. We must ask God to help us hatethe sin in our life and take it out. “OhGod have mercy; make this sin becompletely gone out of my life.” If wedon’t get that sin out of our life, it willcontinue to plague us and grab hold ofus. We want God to be entirely active inhelping us. We have to deal with this sinand pay attention to it, and ask God topay attention to it, because we wantvictory over that sin.

After we have achieved victory, then theevidence that we really have victory isthat the temptation to sin is gone. That

“When God saves us,we come to understand

that all of our sinshave been

paid for by theLord Jesus Christ.”

sin is no longer troubling us. Other-wise, that sin is still standing in the wayof my right relationship with Christ, which I should have as a child of God.We must keep pleading with God; wedon’t have to hesitate at all. We needGod’s help again and again to protect usfrom sin.

Only after we have achieved victoryover that sin can we feel our right rela-tionship with Christ has been restored.Only then can we feel joy in our soul, because we know we have been forgivenand cleansed. When we finally franklyand honestly see our sin, and we openlyconfess to our Savior without any hold-ing back - that is when we feel the joyof forgiveness and Christ’s love.

I know that God forgave my sins whenHe saved me. That was God’s actionentirely, and my confession of sin wasnot necessary for salvation. However, Iknow I am clean with God because Iconfessed my sin. This is what I needagain and again.

Radio and learning the Gospel under her father, Harold Camp-ing, Susan watched Family Radio grow into the expansive in-strument God so powerfully uses to reach the world with theGospel.

After seven years of service, Susan has left her full-time positionas manager-director with Family Radio and will be seeking otheravenues in which God can use her.

Susan was very active in Family Radio’s international outreach, managing staff, overseeing programming production forbroadcasts to almost every continent on the globe. She wasinstrumental with Family Radio’s International Web development, overseeing language translation and archival organization.

More recently, Susan also oversaw the initial development ofthe new Listener Care department, designed to meet the needsof Family Radio listeners. She exuded empathy and compassionwith “Listener Care” and her presence will be sorely missed.

Susan remains as Board Secretary for Family Radio, as shetransitions away from her day-to-day responsibilities.

Please join us in praising our Lord for Susan Espinoza and herfaithfulness. May we thank Him for her wonderful contributionsto Family Radio. Please pray with us for His guiding Hand ofblessing and wisdom upon her as she seeks to serve Him.
