SoulCollage® Prayer Card
Intro and Open Studio
with Val Hornburg
Holy Family Parish Center May 2
nd from 4 PM to 9 PM
Are you interested in learning more about SoulCollage® and/or creating your very own prayer cards for yourself or others? During this Open Studio time, I will offer two times of introduction to the process—at 4 PM and again at 7 PM. The rest of the time is set aside for card making—as many cards as you’d like. It’s a perfect time to create a card for your mother or someone whose been a mother in your life. Also a great gift for that special person celebrating their First Holy Communion. Drop in when you can. Ages 21 and over. All materials provided. No artist skills are needed with this simple no-fail, creative process.
Snacks, beverages and wine are available!! Suggested donation: $10-25 to offset
snacks and material costs.
Part of the proceeds will benefit Holy Family’s Religious Ed program. Please RSVP to the parish office at 503-774-1428
x102 or email: [email protected].
We will be providing 35 food Back-packs for students at Woodmere Elementary School located at SE 79th & Duke for 2 weeks.
The bags need to be brought to the Parish Center on Wednesdays—April 25th and May 2nd. To be delivered on Thursdays. There are suggested lists at the sign-up table. You may use our bag or a doubled grocery bag. PLEASE SIGN-UP in the back of church OR you may leave a message for Vicki at 503-774-1428 ext. 123 or [email protected] that you would fill a bag or two.
THANKS FOR YOUR GENEROSITY!
WE APPRECIATE OUR
VOLUNTEERS!
Please pray with us— Loving God, you are our first and finest model of generosity. Continue to bless
our community with volunteers who see their work as not just a job, but as a
sacred calling. Teach us that all we have is gift, given not just for our benefit but for the good of all. We ask this in your
most holy name. AMEN

DID YOU KNOW? The 6th graders of Holy Family spent all
last week attending Outdoor School? Outdoor School mix-es a traditional camp atmosphere with daily hands-on sci-ence education. Students study what it means for an eco-system to be healthy through water, soil, plant, and animal field studies. “Outdoor school teaches children about the natural sciences so they can use that information as adults to become knowledgeable citizens and voters. If a child can understand the natural process, then he or she can under-stand those factors that affect the natural process. Outdoor School teaches the natural process... how nature works!”
THE SCHOOL ADVISORY COUNCIL will elect new mem-bers at the June meeting for the 2018-2019 school year. The application for those people interested in running for the SAC are available in the back of the church. If you are interested in serving on the School Advisory Council, please complete the candidate information sheet and return it to Loretta Wiltgen at the school office by May 25
th.
The Purpose of the Advisory Council is to provide policy direction for program needs of the school, especially in Planning, Finances and Advancement: to promote the im-plementation of said policies; and to insure that all local policies are in accord with the interest and spirit of the poli-cies established for the Catholic Schools of the Archdio-cese of Portland. Support the legacy, join SAC to help strengthen the foundation and expand the horizon of Holy Family Catholic School. It is a wonderful way to assist in the future of the school. School Advisory Council term is a 3 year commitment with monthly meetings the second Thursday of the month from 6:30-8:00 pm during the school year. SAC is comprised of 10 members in addition to the Principal and the Pastor. Thank you for your interest in serving on SAC.

SUNDAY’S GOSPEL April 22nd—Fourth Sunday of Easter
John 10:11-18
Jesus described himself in many ways. We don’t know many shepherds, but in Jesus’ time, they were everywhere, some very caring and others who didn’t care for their sheep very well. Jesus describes himself as the Good Shepherd who knows each one of us, who laid down his life for us.
Who are the people in your life who are “good shepherds” for you, who lead you, who care for you?

Next week, we will take up the Catholic Home Missions Appeal. Right now, over 40 percent of dio-ceses in the United States are con-sidered home mission territory be-cause they are unable to fund the essential pastoral work needed in their communities. Your support of this appeal helps ease the struggle of these dioceses. Please prayerful-ly consider how you can support this appeal. Envelopes and fliers are available in the back of the
church. More information can be found at www.usccb.org/home-missions.
