Shoshanna didn’t want to go to the new dance class. The style was contemporary and she always fancied herself as a hip hop dancer. However, Shoshanna knew that her mother really wanted her to try the class, so she strapped on her shoes and resolved to give it a good go.When the dance teacher started the lesson,

Shoshanna thought she’d be able to keep up with the other dancers. But a little while into it, she realized how uncoordinated she was in comparison. In fact, it was a bit mortifying to not be able to leap and twirl as well as everyone else.At the end of class, Shoshanna’s mother said

that she didn’t have to attend the class anymore. But Shoshanna felt exhilarated. She’d loved the challenge and didn’t want to quit!

My luckiest day was on Monday. I’m not sure why everything seemed to come together in magnificent ways, but I certainly wasn’t going to complain about it! For starters, I woke up one minute before my alarm blared in my ear. Then, my dad cooked Keegan and me pancakes for breakfast. The bus was a few minutes late, so we didn’t have to walk to school. During class, Mrs. Robins announced that I’d won first prize in the science competition with my amazing egg experiment! But the day became even better after Aunt Gia picked me up from school. She drove Keegan and me to

the hospital. It was there that the luckiest thing of all happened. The doctors told our family that Mom would be coming home because she had responded to treatment and was going to fully recover.

Lianna McPhrupp was not afraid of anything. She was as brave as the lion that roared the loudest and frightened all the other lions. She wasn’t afraid of dark shadows, dark corners or dark alleyways. She laughed in the face of loud thunderstorms. Big dogs only made her coo with glee. She enjoyed spotting spiders and bugs with her magnifying glass and examining the textures of their bodies for hours on end. She liked picking up wiggly worms in the back garden and making her mother squeal.

Simon Snowman had never liked icy avenues and blistering gales. He detested hot cocoa and despised woolen scarves and bulky coats. But because he was a snowman, he was determined to stuff those inappropriate thoughts deep down in his snowy belly. He felt ashamed and didn’t want his mom to find out.One day, Simon was out walking in the faint sunlight. He met a snowwoman, who introduced herself as

Misty. Misty told Simon all about a magical warm island that floated in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. The island was called Hawaii. Simon was fascinated by Misty’s tales of palm trees, snorkeling, surfing, hikes through tall trees and hungry mosquitoes! He asked Misty if “Hawaii” existed – or if she had invented it.Misty smiled mysteriously at the inquiry. “Maybe we should go there!”
