FOURTH ANNOUNCEMENT International Society for Southeast Asian Agricultural Sciences (ISSAAS) in collaboration with Pangasinan State University (PSU) ISSAAS 2015 National ISSAAS Congress and General Meeting DISASTER MITIGATION AGENDA FOR AGRI-FISHERY, SCIENCE EDUCATION AND HEALTH March 17-19, 2015 Pangasinan State University and Sison Auditorium, Lingayen, Pangasinan, Philippines The International Society for Southeast Asian Agricultural Sciences (ISSAAS) was organized by agricultural scientists, technical experts and scholars in Asia, particularly Southeast Asia, and was established to strengthen cooperation among member countries and to bring together groups of professionals from many different countries with common interests in agricultural development in the region. The main objective of the society is to encourage the holistic approach to problems and to promote the progress and development of science and technology through research and publication, and the outcome is to be for regional agricultural development. ISSAAS member scientists have made significant contributions to the advancement of agricultural development for the last 20 years of its existence. Pangasinan State University as one of the State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) in the Philippines and is one PHEIs with active members in the ISSAAS since 2007 is honored to host the 2015 ISSAAS National Congress. The theme for this year’s congress is DISASTER MITIGATION AGENDA FOR AGRI-FISHERY, SCIENCE EDUCATION AND HEALTH. The following are the Sub- themes: Sub-Theme I. Capacity Building of Community for Resiliency Sub-Theme II. Adaptive Measures/Assessment Tools Sub-Theme III. Technology Development and Resource Management Sub-Theme IV. Use of Indigenous Knowledge as Coping Mechanisms

The International Society for Southeast Asian Agricultural Sciences (ISSAAS) was organized

by agricultural scientists, technical experts and scholars in Asia, particularly Southeast Asia, and

was established to strengthen cooperation among member countries and to bring together groups

of professionals from many different countries with common interests in agricultural development

in the region.

The main objective of the society is to encourage the holistic approach to problems and to

promote the progress and development of science and technology through research and

publication, and the outcome is to be for regional agricultural development. ISSAAS member

Call for Papers/Poster Abstracts

International Society for Southeast Asian Agricultural Sciences (ISSAAS) in collaboration with the

Pangasinan State University is inviting all active ISSAAS members and those intending to be a

member to submit scientific papers or posters addressing the following disciplines:

(a) Plant and Animal Production

(b) Environmental Protection

(c) Agricultural Chemistry

(d) Aquatic & Fishery Science

(e) Forest and Forest Products Science

(f) Agro-Engineering

(g) Agricultural Science in Society and Economy

(h) Food Security & Safety

Guidelines for Abstract Submission

1. Abstracts shall be written in

English, not exceeding 250

words.

2. Manuscript should be prepared

on A4 size paper; single spaced

and Arial font size 11 in

Microsoft Word format.

3. The top of the page shall contain

the title of the paper in bold

capital letters, as well as the

name of the author(s) and their

affiliations, and the email

address of the corresponding

author all centered on the page

width.

4. Oral presentation and discussion

is limited to 15 minutes.

Guidelines for Poster Presentation

1. Posters should conform to the

following format: (a) 30” x 40”

size, (b) orientation – portrait

layout; (c) material – tarpaulin

or heavy coated paper; (d) color

mix – shall fit to a light display

background; and (e) content

layout – freestyle.

2. The general content shall

include: (a) Title; Researcher/s

Name and Institutional

Affiliation; (b) Introduction; (c)

Materials and Methods; (d)

Results and Discussion; (e)

Conclusions and

Recommendations; (f)

Literature Cited; and (g)

Acknowledgements.

• Extended deadline for submission of abstracts is January 30, 2015. Abstracts can be sent

by email to [email protected]; [email protected]

• The Committee on Paper Presentation reserves the right to decide on the final form of

presentation, whether oral or poster presentations. The presenters will be advised by email

on the acceptance of their paper submissions by February 10, 2015 at the latest.

• Accepted oral presenters are kindly requested to convert their Powerpoint presentations

to Adobe PDF with file name (Last and First Name of Main Author and Date of Submission).

Registration Fee

• Registration fee for active ISSAAS members* shall be Php 3,500.00 and Php 5,000.00 for

non-members. The registration fee will cover lunch, dinner and snacks for March10 and 11,

Congress Tour on March 12 and conference kit.

• There are no special arrangements made for participants with dietary restrictions related to

religious or medical reasons, and such participants are requested to bring their own food.

• The participants shall shoulder their transportation and accommodation expenses. There

are numerous number of bus going to the venue and hotels for accommodation.

(* those who have paid the 2014 membership fee)

Membership Fee

• For those who wish to become ISSAAS members, the annual membership fee for regular

members is USD30.00 or Php1,300.00. Membership fee in peso denomination may be

collected in ISSAAS National Congresses, but payment in dollars is most welcome and

encouraged. It is a must, however, to pay in dollars when attending the International

Congress.

Conference Venue

• Pangasinan State University and Sison Auditorium, Lingayen, Pangasinan

Transportation going to the Venue

• Those participants coming from the south of Manila and NCR, they can take public utility

bus (PUB) specifically, Victory Liner plying Quezon City to Pangasinan via Camiling, Tarlac.

Participants from the eastern part of Pangasinan, they can take the Victory Liner coming

from Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Ecija going to Dagupan City then a connecting ordinary bus

going to Lingayen, Pangasinan.

Hotel Accommodation

Please find the list of available accommodation facilities near and within Pangasinan State

University and Sison Auditorium, Lingayen, Pangasinan. The following are the available

hotels/inns within and around the premises of the venue:

• CONSUELO HOTEL located around 100 meters away from Pangasinan State University,

Lingayen Campus.

• THE PRESIDENT’S HOTEL located 200 meters away from the venue.

• THE CAPITOL HOTEL located 50 meters away from the Sison Auditorium and 100 meters

away from the Pangasinan State University, Lingayen Campus.

• PSU HRMTC the host university’s hostel which is located within the campus.
