TO START

What follows is a discussion sheet to review choices and equipment not always included in packages, but often considered. Red

items frequently ordered by others.

You should have:

1. Purchase agreement with package. Commissioning equipment list (Inc.) Charter equipment list (Inc.) Standard equipment

list (Inc.) Std. equipment list.

2. Option sheet with Factory, Local and custom options.

This document is intended to stimulate discussions on various equipment choices and is not all inclusive. There may be additional

custom and optional equipment left to discuss—much of which is included in the option lists. ACY makes no guarantee as to the

fitness of any equipment for the clients intended purpose but does pass on, and help with warranty on all Manufacturers warranty

issues on installed equipment.

ACY is an authorized FP dealer, and the equipment recommended or installed is compatible with the FP recommendations and

warranty requirements. Equipment installed by the owner, or outside vendors may violate the terms of the various MF warranties

and any cost for further compliance procedures will be at the owner’s expense. All extra equipment requested is to be paid for at

the time of the commencement of commissioning unless otherwise arranged. Taking the vessel from the commissioning facility

confirms acceptance except for any punch list items recognized by ACY’s service personal with a signature.

This document in no way changes the force or intent of the Purchase agreement entered into, and if there is a conflict, that

agreement shall prevail. This document is simply meant to represent a log of progress to date.

DISCUSSION: OPTIONS TO CONSIDER… YOUR PLANNING GUIDE

Included: (In each section, a summary of equipment included standard, or in our ACY package, will be noted.

HOW TO USE THIS GUIDE…

We’ll walk through the boat from forward, aft. First on deck, then we’ll go below. This guide covers the most commonly discussed

options. There are certainly other options and custom options we can talk about, but let’s get these covered first.

FURTHER DISCUSSION FOR COMMISSIONING

There is considerable support material at our web site and on the video that accompanies this paper. This shows

many of the extra choices that ACY offers.

It is important to understand the process of putting together a sophisticated product such as you’re considering

and the advantages of working with an experienced, knowledgeable dealer.

HERE’S A LOOK AT A TYPICAL TIME LINE FROM ORDER TO DELIVERY

In addition to visiting our facility to see actual equipment in operation, and to see choices chosen by others

(We typically have 25 or more boats to see under commissioning, charter or display)—we can also arrange

factory tours. We also have many white papers and videos that explain much of what is talked about here.

1. Our people have over 26 years of experience, working with Fountaine Pajot and we have been consulted by Fountaine Pajot

and other dealers to help improve the models and systems incorporated.

2. When we offer a quote, we are incorporating many suggested improvements that we have found important for our

customers based on our continuous feedback as we maintain a close relationship with more clients than anyone else,

before, during and after putting their boat together.

3. We will have a knowledgeable consultant, and our Engineer, Ken Krasco available to you to review equipment choices,

make suggestions and answer questions prior to putting your boat together. We will discuss the advantages of ordering

some equipment from Fountaine Pajot, vs installing equipment locally.

4. There will be a technical equipment review during the time your boat is on order and again about 120 days prior to

completion which is the time frame when the last factory

changes can be made.

5. Upon completion at the factory:

a. Your boat will typically go to the port in LaRochelle,

where our agent will check the boat for installed

options prior to launch and commissioning. Our agent

consists of a team of experts, who are on-site, full time,

in LaRochelle where the commissioning yard is located.

b. They will add equipment or upgrade systems prior to

launching – based on our instructions to them. This may

include, for instance.

i. Adding or upgrading through hulls, including

setting up for larger A/C intakes and filters

(This increases the efficiency of the A/C approximately 30%). Adding through hulls for equipment to be

installed locally. We provide the precise layout. This for Northern Lights Generator, watermakers, etc.

Equipment decided in advance

ii. At the factory, adding the backbone wiring harnesses for Raymarine (Or custom chosen instruments).

Then installing specified custom electronics.

c. The boat is launched, rigged and commissioned by Fountaine Pajot at their yard.

d. Our local agent then checks the boat for proper operation, and works with familiarizing the delivery crew with the

equipment.

6. The delivery. We have a group of preferred delivery captains, and

90% of the boats are delivered on their own bottom. This costs

about half of the cost of commercial shipping, offers more flexible

timing, accommodates owners who want to sail with their boat, or

use their boat in Europe before having it delivered to the U.S.

a. We have a concierge program to accommodate owners

who want to spend time in Europe.

b. For Owners who want to spend time in the Med:

http://www.atlantic-

cruising.com/news/2014/7/23/what-does-mercedes-and-

acy-sailboats-have-in-common?rq=delivery

We arrange insurance for the delivery trip. The captains and their

supporting company, generally only offers minimum insurance

coverage for this important phase of your order. You will see this

in your quote. You can rest assured that everything is done

properly when we arrange the delivery.

7. Upon arrival (Note, we can complete the commissioning at our base in Annapolis, or at any of our affiliate locations.)

Page 9: FOUNTAINE PAJOT-PLANNING GUIDE… · 3 Please review this, and to whatever extent you can, fill in your preferences, or note your questions—it helps if you do this in advance, and

9

a. We check out the boat with the delivery captain, and de-brief with them concerning any issues that need

attention.

b. We clear the boat into customs, and arrange for the crew’s return.

c. We handle U.S. duty, if appropriate. This is shown in your quote.

d. VITAL: We are a certified, licensed U.S. importer with authority to assign an appropriate U.S. HIN number.

e. We then proceed to install agreed equipment, including checking out the factory equipment and installing agreed

local equipment.

8. Your check out.

a. Even before your boat arrived, if you need sailing courses or brush ups, our network of affiliated management

companies, including Cruise Annapolis can arrange certified, ASA captains to provide or upgrade your sailing skills.

The captain, who often becomes your friend and consultant, can continue to upgrade your skills on your boat once

it is delivered.

b. Our service manager (Who is a dedicated employee—not just a sub-

contractor. Ken Krasco has been working with us for 29 years and

knows the boats intimately. He has a team of professionals, and

access to some of the best vendors and sub-contractors in the world

in Annapolis—where we prefer to commission boats. However, we

can arrange commissioning at any of our affiliates. Talk to us in

advance.

c. Ken will spend most of a day, or as much time as you need, going

through a familiarization with the installed equipment. Some owners

video the process to help recall the information later. You will be

supplied with a file box with all of your manuals, and any custom

schematics or other explanations that Ken arranges. Typically you

will then do a sea-trial with Ken and any other experts including your

sales consultant, and any instructor you’re working with in order to get familiar with your equipment and the

operation of your boat under actual sea conditions.

d. If you need further training or familiarization, we can arrange a captain to spend as much time as you need to be

comfortable, or to offer formal ASA training on your own boat for your, or your family and friends benefit.

9. We offer the full gamut of services—before, during and after the sales.

a. Consulting and tax advice for those wanting to set their boat up as a business. No one has more experience at

setting up private boats, in private management.

b. Financing for private boats or boats set-up as a business. Live-aboard or world cruising clients.

c. We arrange insurance in the U.S. or internationally, including at all of our affiliate locations.

d. We have a cache of experienced, licensed captains that stand ready to deliver your boat, any where.

e. We are a fully licensed importer and offer documenting and HIN number assigning services

f. Our technical and service expertise follows you for the life of your boat. We will advise local service personal, or

travel to meet your boat, as needed to insure your service and warranty requirements are handled.

SAILS AND GEAR

The bow sprit can offer additional options for improved off wind, downwind, and light air sailing. It is a carbon-fiber piece that can

be added to your equipment. It’s a bolt on unit that can be added later. Because of the volume of boats we have coming in all of the

time, we can have one sent on another delivery any time.

All of the worlds best sailmakers and riggers are located right in Annapolis, with affiliates in Ft. Lauderdale. If you want to upgrade to

improved offshore, downwind or light air sails and rigging—our experts are available for consultation most anytime. We recommend

adding rigging locally, rather than from the factory to accommodate your custom sail installation.

ELECTRICAL

There are a number of upgrades that ACY recommends based on our experience commissioning 100’s of boat for Live-aboard,

private use and for placement in our management program. As the largest dealer in the world, we have implemented a program of

continuous improvement to systems and options.

Our electrical engineer will meet with you to discuss all of the electrical loads and your typical use pattern. Once he understands, he

will recommend appropriate equipment and upgrades and additions with a goal to make your boat as self-sufficient as possible, and

as a minimum, with maximum loads, have its electrical needs met with approximately one hour or less running of the engines or

generator per day to completely restore 24 hours of use. Of course the generator will need to be run for A/C away from the docks.

DISCUSSION.

Fountaine Pajot builds boats for a world wide market. Even though the U.S. is one of their major markets, the total of all of the

markets is greater. The electrical system that is provided is geared towards the world market with 220V 50 cycle service.

While FP’s (and other foreign manufactuers) offer a 110V system, we have found it inadequate for the power-hungry needs of the

U.S./North American owners. Here are some of the upgrades included in our Electrical system upgrade, custom done during our

commissioning process.

1. We offer 110V, 60 cycle appliances.

2. Foreign manufacturers, generally, incorporate smaller gage, 220 V. wiring, with simplex outlets and no ground fault system.

We run a complete parallel system that incorporates upgraded, larger, marine grade (tinned) wiring with ground faults.

3. We incorporate standard 110V input cabling and fittings with a master circuit breaker at the input receptacle. From here, a

large gage wire runs to a custom installed electrical distribution panel which supplies all on-board 110V equipment and

newly installed, duplex outlets.

4. We also offer a system that can accommodate either 110 60 cycle, or 220, 50 cycle inputs. This is useful if you will be sailing

internationally and will be encountering both systems. The alternative is to use your generator, even in port, to supply your

on-board electrical system. Most of you don’t need this, but talk to us if you will be traveling extensively in countries where

the 110V system is not the standard!

CUSTOM ELECTRICAL AND CHARGING SYSTEMS

1. Northern lights 9kw generator installed in sound installation box with custom, compartment, sound proofing, rubber mounting pad

and rubber isolation mounts. Separate start battery in compartment, charged from Generator. Northern lights runs at lower RPM

with widely available service in the Unites States, Bahamas, and Caribbean. Generators provided by most manufacturers are not

generally supported at all Caribbean locations. Available.

2. ACY 110v shore power system with Paneltronics breaker panel. Inc. in ACY package

3. Link Pro battery monitor (Provides battery status, including time remaining until charge necessary w/alarms). In some cases, we

provide even more elaborate eco-monitoring equipment based on the installations. Inc. in ACY pkg.

4. (below) Isolation transformer with multiple input voltages. Multiple receptacles installed at stern for input of 110V, 60 cycles, or

(European) 220 V, 50 cycles. Note: Virtually all of the new equipment: A/C units, inverter/chargers, etc. are 50-60 cycle

compatible. Available.

Page 11: FOUNTAINE PAJOT-PLANNING GUIDE… · 3 Please review this, and to whatever extent you can, fill in your preferences, or note your questions—it helps if you do this in advance, and

11

We also offer a host of other charging and eco-friendly systems including, among other things:

1. Solar cell arrays, with extra panels.

2. Wind or water generators.

3. Enhanced monitoring and distribution systems to enhance the efficiency and monitoring of this equipment.

4. Custom stereo, speaker and entertainment systems, including communication equipment and ground plates, etc.

A host of lighting options from underwater lights, to mood lighting, mast and boom lighting and more.

CANVAS AND COVERS

We offer an array of custom canvas products to enhance your enjoyment. All of our enhancements feature Sunbrella and Textilene

materials. Some examples:

Textilene is a woven fabric that is impervious to mildew and sun deterioration. It is most often used for high-end lawn and patio

furniture, and you may have experienced this woven, bullet proof material before. We use it for cover/shades, cushion covers, net

covers and cockpit enclosures (tents). It comes in a variety of colors to match your other décor and provides good flow through

ventilation and sun reduction of up to 92% depending on color (White offers the best, some colors range from 70-90% reduction.

When Textilene is used in conjunction with Sunbrella for cockpit enclosures and the like, it permits air flow. (Unlike a combination of

icing glass and solid Sunbrella enclosures) while blocking out up to 92% of the sun, and sheeting rain away in all but the most harsh,

horizontal wind conditions. Note that the hard bimini overhangs on the FP cockpits overhang substantially onto the deck area

behind the seating so that any rain running down is directed away from those seated in the cockpit anyway—and the enclosure

completes this job.

1. Window shades. We can supply various custom window blinds or decorative curtains. Many manufacturers, including FP,

offer exterior fitted Textilene covers. We offer them as interior, roll up covers. The exterior covers make it difficult to clean

the windows, and over time, the constant wind vibration and sun interaction causes these exterior screens to slightly

imprint the synthetic windows. This creates a huge maintenance correction involving wet sanding and refinishing the

windows. Our interior panels don’t present this problem.

2. A custom helm Bimini. This consists of separate bimini, connector, and windshield with zip open window, and a back

Textilene sun cover (to keep the sun off our neck. We can enclose this area as well.(We offer the back Textilene cover on

the factory bimini as well.

3. Cockpit enclosures. Custom colors available. Combination of Textilene and Sunbrella. Openings as you like. We also offer

individual side panels. Many clients whose boat will spend time in the Virgins, add an aft Textilene shade so that when

anchored in the evenings, facing the East Trade winds, the afternoon sun is blocked from ruining your cocktail hour!

4. Cushions. Actually if you’re ok with the colors, the factory outside cushions are hard to beat. If you want custom colors

and/or custom backrest cushions, we can go over this with you.

5. We offer a unique, Textilene net cover which makes the net a comfortable lounge space and incorporates closed foam

pillows which are zipped on so they won’t blow away.

6. Any other custom cover or canvas product you can imagine is available after consultation.

WATER MAKERS

We offer many choices. One major consideration is that a 12V rather than a 110V system makes sense. We have so many sources to

charge the batteries (engines, generator, solar, etc.) to produce water, where with the 110 V system you only have the generator.

With 12 V. your passive charging systems may supply all the power needed without wasting fuel.

One of our goals is to plan all of the equipment so that an hour a day of running the generator or engines away from the dock and

minimum need, in general for re-charging.

AUTO PROPS

This is an outstanding product. Virtually all of my customers who come back for a second boat, immediately remind me not to forget

the Autoprop!

The Autoprop is a self-pitching, feathering reversing prop with cupped (not flat) blades. This is very much like a

more sophisticated private plane would have a variable pitch propeller:

1. Going forward, the prop self-pitches to optimize it’s performance to the conditions. Gears up for

power in a chop, and gears for speed in smooth water. End result? You get higher top end speed (by

about a knot!) , or you can run at a lower rpm for the same speed and increase your range.

2. Sailing. The prop feathers reducing drag significantly. Often gaining a know or more. That’s a bigger

gain than most sophisticated, upgraded sails will offer—do an Autoprop first—add sails later.

3. Reversing. The blades completely turn around, and, remember, are self pitching. You get 80-90%

increased reversing power. Approach a fuel dock in a cross wind? Come in with full way on and stop in a few feet so the

wind doesn’t catch you—promotes single handed docking. When you go in reverse, you get immediate response with the

blades actually reversing.

No other prop that I know of offers all of these features and I would say 80-90% of my clients either add this to their order, or plan

to add them later when they go more seriously cruising.

OTHER EQUIPMENT

1. Custom wood and cabinet work. We can order extra panels and moldings from Fountaine Pajot to add cabinets, or even to

convert a cabin to an alternative use such as: Utility/storage space. Office. Workshop. Exercise room—you name it. We can

do this initially, or as part of an overall plan if you’re planning to convert your boat to personal use after having it, initially,

in our management program.

2. Custom curtains or blinds custom fitted.

3. Custom Granite lite (Or other stone materials) countertops.

4. Custom interior floors. Generally Pergo in any color or finish you wish, but you name it…

5. Cockpit floors in cork (Factory teak, or synthetic teak available). This is a cork material that is compressed with an epoxy

substrate under tremendous pressure. It’s properties include:

a. Lighter in color, significantly cooler on bare feet when exposed to full sun.

b. Superior endurance with little or no maintenance, other than scrubbing with soap and water. No oil or treatment

required.

c. No staining. We’ve run tests with engine and cooking oil, red wine, grease and every known staining agent and

compared to teak, this product is a huge improvement.

d. Sound deadening properties and easy on bare feet.

e. Our supplier has templates for each of our models and pre-cuts individual planks (similar to teak) at his shop, then

installs the blanks individually (like teak). If ever a piece or section should get damaged, a replacement piece can

be supplied that will match perfectly because of the uniformity of the product.

6. Custom fitted mattresses, conventional or Tempur-pedic.

7. Custom name painting and hull graphics. Hull painting, etc.
