AMVIP : CO-FOUNDERS AMVIP was co-founded by Professor Dr. Hj. Mohamad Kamal Bin Hj. Harun and Ir. Max Ong Chong Hup in May 2019 and the Association was officially approved by the Registrar of Societies on 25 th September 2019. Professor Ts. Dr. Haji Mohamad Kamal Bin Haji Harun, FASc who is a Professor of Chemistry, is the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and International) of University Technology MARA (UiTM) since September 2017. Prior to that the Minister of Higher Education appointed him at the Director of the Higher Education Leadership Academy (AKEPT), Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia. Between from 2015 to 2017. 2011 and 2015, he held several positions in University of Kelantan Malaysia (UMK), namely, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Assistant Vice Chancellor and Head, Global Entrepreneurship Research and Innovation Centre. He had also been entrusted with numerous leading positions in Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), where he had spent over 20 years as an academic. Among his senior management appointments were as Deputy Vice Chancellor (Industrial and Community Networking) (2007–2010), Dean, Faculty of Applied

AMVIP was co-founded by Professor Dr. Hj. Mohamad Kamal Bin Hj. Harun and Ir. Max Ong Chong Hup in May 2019 and the Association was officially approved by the Registrar of Societies on 25th September 2019.

Professor Ts. Professor Kamal earned his PhD from the University of Manchester’s Institute of Science and Technology, specialising in the areas of Corrosion Protection, Adhesion of Paints and Polymeric Barrier Coatings. His areas of research are in metallic alloys, corrosion protection by paints and inhibitors, including the study of polymeric barrier coating degradation under atmospheric conditions as well as ionic barrier properties of polymeric coatings. He has also attended Oxford Advanced Management and Leadership Program at Oxford University in October 2018 and the 7th ASEAN Senior Management Development Program organised by the Harvard Business School Club Malaysia (HBSCM).

His expertise is also sought in the industry, as evidenced from the Master-classes conducted under the Institute of Materials Malaysia as well as courses conducted under the organization of Dreamcatcher Sdn Bhd.,to train industrial personnel in the areas of corrosion protection. He has also successfully developed the IMM Standards on Fingerprinting of paints, raw materials and dried coatings based on FTIR for the oil and gas industry. Professor Kamal was the President of IMM (2012 -2016). He is a Fellow member, of the Institute of Materials Malaysia (IMM).Professor Kamal is also a certified Professional Technologist by the Malaysian Board of Technologist (MBOT). He is a Fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM), Chairperson of the Chemical Sciences Discipline Group, Academy of Sciences Malaysia, Fellow of The Malaysian Solid State Science & Technology Society, Fellow member of the International Institute of Plantation Malaysia (IIPM) and a Board member of the Malaysia Logistics Innovation Berhad (MLIB) Board of Directors, as well as a member of the Board of Governers of Tunku Abdul Rahman University College.

Ir. Max Ong graduated from Queen Mary University of London in 1977 with B.Sc.(Hons) in Materials Engineering. He has over 40 years’ experience in Corrosion Control covering Protective Coatings, Decorative Paints, Cathodic Protection, Corrosion Monitoring & Inspection, Fire Proofing Coatings, Thermal Spray Coatings, Failure Analysis and Materials Testing & Selection, as a

manufacturer, technical sales specialist, service contractor, and Corrosion Consultant. He was involved in manufacturing of Sacrificial Aluminium, Zinc and Magnesium Anodes in DIMET Singapore (1980-1982) and MPE Malaysia (1990-2005). He was involved in paint manufacturing and technical servicing in DIMET-AMERON Protective Coatings (1982-1989) and Leighs Paints (2006-2009).

Co-founder of the Association of Materials, Vibration & Insulation Practitioners, Malaysia ( AMVIP ) initiated in 2019.EXCO Member of the Malaysia Robotics & Automation Society ( MyRAS ) 2019-2020.Industry Advisory Panel Member for Materials Engineering degree programs at UCSI University, University Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM), Universiti Malaya (UM), and Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP), and Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS).He is currently Executive Director of Norimax Sdn. Bhd. (a company manufacturing Sacrificial Anodes and providing Thermal Spray Coatings & Corrosion Protection Services) since 2009 and Director of JOTAC Academy Sdn. Bhd. (a company providing TVET Training) since 2014.
