Make the music last forever.

Founders CircleThe Legacy Giving Program of

Community Music Center

An Enduring Legacy

We know that music is a very important part of your life, and that you have been gener-ous in sharing it with others. We invite you to make a planned gift from your estate to CMC. Your gift will leave an enduring lega-cy, making it possible for CMC to continueto teach music making for generations tocome.

Through a legacy gift, supporters can make a significant gift from their estate that may not have been possible during their lifetime. Legacy gifts can include bequests of cash, insurance proceeds, retirement accounts, real or personal property or securities.

Legacy gifts are indispensable to CMC. Over the years, these gifts have increased CMC’s endowment, provided scholarship support, and allowed for critical investments in pro-gram development and infrastructure.

The Founders Circle honors people who have in-cluded Community Music Center in their estate plans. Members will be invited to many exciting events, including the Annual Founders Circle Luncheon, the All-School Recital and more. Membership in the Founders Circle will serve as a lasting acknowledgement of the donors’ generosity, and CMC commits to publishing the names of all donors annually, in perpetuity.

The mission of Community Music Center is to make high quality music

accessible to all people, regardless of their financial status.

A Powerful Vision

“We are not primarily concerned about the evolution of concert artists, though we give special attention to and encourage those who show exceptional talent. Our aim is to create a musical atmosphere in the home by giving children the means of expression.”

CMC has honored this vision from the very be-ginning. We are proud to be among the oldest and most respected of San Francisco’s cultural institutions. We take even greater pride in hav-ing stayed true to her commitment to teach music making to children and adults of all walks of life, at all levels of achievement. It is a mission that has only grown in importance – to our stu-dents and their families, and to our city - in the intervening years.

You can help Community Music Center pro-vide music instruction for another one hundred years. Together we will impact hundreds of thousands of lives with the life-enriching power of great music.

Our founder, Gertrude Field, established Com-munity Music Center on Capp Street in 1921 and served as its director through 1946. She ex-pressed her vision for making music accessible with these words:
