Catch Up with FCP Conversations Online! It’s been a year since FCP launched the online broadcast series on Youtube, FCP Conversations Online: Bucks County Nonprofit Leaders, and our library continues to grow. So far, we’ve welcomed 10 organizations to discuss their work in Bucks County.

Each episode runs about 15 minutes and features a community organization that shares FCP’s mission to better support the behavioral health and human service needs of children and young adults in Bucks County.

“We’re working to add about one interview per month and so far we’ve achieved our goal,” Ron Bernstein, executive director, says. “We’re involved in many efforts to help connect people and this is just one more way to move our mission forward.” To view the online series, go to www.youtube.com and enter “FCP Conversations Online” in the search bar.

Doylestown Township Debuts “Sensory Trail”A new park feature opened last October in Doylestown’s Central Park, and it’s thought to be the first of its kind in Pennsylvania. Called the “Sensory Trail,” it is intended for individuals with a variety of challenges in the area of sensory integration and mobility, who can have a difficult time enjoying outdoor recreation facilities.

The trail features a series of nine “pods,” that offer different types of sensory stimulation along a 385-foot boardwalk, designed specifically for children and young adults with a wide range of disabilities, including individuals on the autism spectrum.

FCP helped fund its construction, along with the Pennsylvania Department of Economic Development, Doylestown Lions Club, and the Village Improvement Association of Doylestown.

Pooja Gandhi, a Central Bucks High School East graduate from Warwick Township, was awarded the Morris M. Davis Scholarship and a $1,500 scholarship during the 18th Annual Foundations Partnership in Youth Services Award Luncheon Ceremony held October 20 at the Doylestown Country Club. The annual Morris M. Davis Award and Scholarship recognizes the services and commitments of Morris Davis, Foundation’s long-term board member. In addition to being a veteran who served in World War II, Morris was committed to helping less fortunate children and youth in Bucks County. “He (Morris) established an annual scholarship, and with his passing, his family has continued his tradition and commitment,” said FCP executive director, Ron Bernstein. This award and scholarship in Morris Davis’s name is

given annually to a student intern who shows immense quality of character to community service and to an individual who displayed incredible growth and maturity in Foundations Summer Youth Corps Program in alliance with Bucks County Community

College (BCCC).This program provided Pooja, a sophomore majoring in Speech Pathology at LaSalle University, with a 10-week service learning internship this past summer at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bucks County in Jamison, Pennsylvania. A total of 16 interns, including Pooja, completed internships, each at different non-profits. In order to participate in this program, students must be Bucks County residents who have completed their

freshman or sophomore years at college. Successful applicants spent 32 hours in service activities with their host agencies each week and eight hours of academic, supervision and training activities.
