Architecture of Learning™: Basic Course BookKevin D. Washburn, Ed.D. author
Architecture of Learning™, an instructional design model based on neurocognitive and educational research findings, empowers teachers/trainers to effectively convey their message by using instructional design grids, or “blueprints.” The message, or type of content to be taught, dictates the type of blueprint selected, customizing the learning process. The blueprint guides the sequence of learning activities that compose an instructional unit. Architecture of Learning™ is the instructional model upon which Foundations & Frameworks is based. The book, The Architecture of Learning: Designing Instruction for the Learning Brain and the Architecture of Learning™ course book are integral to teacher participation during the three-day training.

SPECS LogsContributors: Cheryl M. Blackmon, Ed.D., Debbie M. Robertson, M.S.Ed., Joanne Sellers, M.Ed., Kevin D. Washburn, Ed.D.
SPECS (SPace for Extending Comprehension Skills) Logs are journal-type books in which students record their developing understanding of a book and the associated comprehension skill. Students track the sequence of a day’s reading, use visual tools to represent their thinking, and summarize their understanding that results from the visual tool’s development. A tailored vocabulary section in the Log provides an organized place to record new words and their various components. This Log is an invaluable tool for student growth and for teacher assessment of student understanding. SPECS Logs are available for Primary, Elementary, and Advanced levels and are an integral part of the Foundations & Frameworks Instructional Reading Program.
