PDG Madhukar Malhotra acknowledged TRF knowledge

available in our Club through DRFC Chair PDG Shaju Peter

and our senior most Past President Rtn. B.L. Ramsisaria. He

going, I am sure you would beat all records.”

He gave brief history about the Rotary Foundation which is

a non-profit corporation that supports the efforts of Rotary

International to achieve world understanding and peace

through international humanitarian, educational, and cultural

exchange programs. It is supported solely by voluntary

contributions from Rotarians and friends of the Foundation

who share its vision of a better world.

The Foundation was created in 1917 by Rotary

International's sixth President, Arch C. Klumph, as an

endowment fund for Rotary "to do good in the world." It has

grown from an initial contribution of US$ 26.50 to more

that we should not live for ourselves alone but also for the joy

of others.” He added, “The Foundation makes life better all over

the world including our own communities, like the Solar

electrification project in Leh that your Club has taken up.”

He also discussed the failure on part of the government in spite

of having funds, and how Rotary steps in like in case of polio

eradication in India. The Rotary advocacy and spending

millions of dollars for this cause made the government and other

agencies to come forward to make India polio free since January

2011. Hopefully, next year we may become a polio free world.

PDG Madhukar said, “Rotary is going strong. It is changing.”

The younger generation does not have time for Rotary which

has to evolve and we have to find ways and means to attract

younger people.
