I was slow to get it, what does she mean Actions Speak Loudly? What is she trying to say? Well, now after many years it has come home to roost. Fast-forward to 2013, Alpha Chi Rho Educational Foundation is doing the same, imploring you and me, to step up with our new brand and tag line “Actions Speak Loudly.” Many feel the only thing the Foundation wants is money, but if you think that, you are mistaken. Actions Speak Loudly no matter what they are. Whether it is the act of giving time, talent or money. Yes, of course we need funds to run your organization, but we also need more of our Brother’s time and talent. The Foundation’s major goal this year to “increase alumni volunteerism as well as alumni sharing of life experiences, and special talents, and to increase the number of alumni supporting the Foundation financially.” In which way are you ready and able to participate? I am now directly asking for your Actions. Share your skills and talents, while building your contacts when you get involved in a committee, chapter or Leadership Scholarship Conclave as a mentor. Remember, when you became part of your Chapter, what you gained the feelings you had? By getting active now you can gain that 10 fold and really learn why Fraternity is for life, not just four years. We are continually trying to update and improve our website, do you have expertise which could help us in this project? We are also trying to develop more ways to market the Fraternity and Foundation to our Graduate Brothers so they too will take Action. Can you help? The Foundation also looks to recognize brothers for jobs well done, would it better suit you to be a member of a committee, which searches for Brothers to honor or helps to set up the yearly budget? Brothers, I am asking you to act now. How will your actions help the Foundation or Fraternity in 2013? Time, Talent or money any, or all will be appreciated. Happy New Year, Actions Speak Loudly make your resolution to help, act right now. Transcript of Foundation Focus - February 2013

From The Desk of Gary DelPiano

Actions Speak Loudly my Mother used to say to me. Whether it was good, or bad, she could always fall back on that phrase to call me to step up or to step back. I was slow to get it, what does she mean Actions Speak Loudly? What is she trying to say? Well, now after many years it has come home to roost.

Fast-forward to 2013, Alpha Chi Rho Educational Foundation is doing the same, imploring you and me, to step up with our new brand and tag line “Actions Speak Loudly.”

Many feel the only thing the Foundation wants is money, but if you think that, you are mistaken.

If you are in this picture then you were at the Bear and Grill the other day at the first ever New Haven/CT Alumni event. We met there had a few with pizza & wings, and realized that no matter what school you went to we all had our brotherhood in common, what more could you ask for?

Brothers Robert Carney, Jerry Pacelli, Bill Caliendo, Rick Carney, Scott Rownin, Jeff Barnett, Jeff Laun, Andy Borner, Bob Bishop, Chris Strukus, Bruce Sweeney, Bill Leavy, Jim Kannengeiser, Tom Stalzer, Dorian DeLaurentiis, Gary DelPiano, Shane McGoey and Guy Tommasi all were able to get to renew old relationships, start new ones and relax for a couple of hours. These Crows represented the institutions of U Cal-Berkley, NYIT, SCSU, Gettysburg College, U of Penn, Dickenson College, WPI, Quinnipiac College, and Alfred U.

We all had a great time getting reacquainted with AXP and realizing that Brotherhood is For Life not Just Four Years.

I’m sure those who came will be at the next one, and hope all of you who could not make it will be able to be there as well! Actions Speak Loudly, interested in starting an Alumni Club in your area? E-mail me to find out more.

You don’t have to be wealthy to make a significant contribution. The Alpha Chi Rho Educational Foundation has developed a planning calculator for Graduate Brothers and their families who may be interested in learning more about planned giving strategies. A planned gift allows you to plan for your family’s future, as well as leaving a legacy for the benefit of future Alpha Chi Rho Brothers.

Visit our website at www.axpef.org and click Donations, then Gift Planning to learn more. You might find it interesting to see just what your planned gift will afford you, your Fraternity & Foundation. We also have other resources for gift planning on our website, such as brochures that may be helpful to you. If you have any questions, please call Shane McGoey, Director of Development, at 732-869-1895 or email at [email protected].

Foundation News

Share your skills, gain practical experience, and build your contacts while giving back to your Fraternity! Get involved in a Graduate Club, a Fraternity or Foundation Committee, or assisting an Undergraduate Chapter near where you live. Those are just three examples of ways to volunteer. There are many other volunteer roles you can take advantage of with Alpha Chi Rho. Actions Speak Loudly and you taking the time to complete this Interest Profile is letting us know you care and want to help. We are not asking for a huge time commitment. We would like to know when to call on you, what interest you have in volunteering, and where you feel your efforts can best help Alpha Chi Rho. Graduates and undergraduates are helping to grow the Brotherhood now because of the time and knowledge that is being volunteered. When you choose to volunteer, you can make a difference as well and make Alpha Chi Rho, its Foundation, Chapters and Brotherhood stronger. Tell us how you would like to get involved.
