Fostering Undergraduate Research Culture
The aim of this practice is to motivate the research work done by the undergraduate
students of CARE beyond their academic performance and to appreciate them to be
a successful candidate in research. This practice created a culture of research
traditions among the undergraduate students and addresses a constructive self
confidence and made them to engage in achievement behaviors. Further, CARE
provided significant resources in terms of Mentors/Guides, infrastructure facilities
and financial support for students for their research activities and making them to
move forward towards their dream. Thus CARE believes that students research
activities play a key role for the Institute success. The best practices specifically
designed for Undergraduate students are identified in 4 dimensions:
Student Research projects: Research in a university setting is like adding a crown to
the kingdom, hence considering the importance of research, undergraduate students
are encouraged to participate in the research activities and they are further guided
to obtain research projects by organizational sponsors and other research funding
bodies. The students of CARE used to get 12 - 15 research projects every year from
STS ICMR.
Innovative Patents by the students:
Converting the ideas into a product development is the first step in the patent
process and its is the need of the hour. Universities rely on the important aspect of
innovation and patenting. Hence students are encouraged to the same and our
institute has developed a significant number of student patents.
Conference presentations:
CARE always motivates students to give presentations at academic conferences. The
students of CARE presented several stage and poster presentations and won several
awards and brought laurels to the Institute.
International and National Student Awards: The awards obtained by the students
created a sense of triumph and improve their chances of their motivational life as
they progressed through the educational system and into their career fields. Hence it
was chosen as one of the best practice.
