Fort Collins Utilities’ Rocky Mountain Lineman School Scholarship. Applicant criteria: Larimer County resident for one year prior to application date High school senior or graduate with a 2.5 GPA or higher GED recipient with a test average of 50 or higher Acceptance to Rocky Mountain Lineman School Program Successful completion of assessment regarding applicant’s ability to complete all duties of a lineworker with or without reasonable accommodation and background check Interest in an electric utility career Students who successfully complete the program will receive a Certificate of Occupational Proficiency and be eligible to apply for employment with Fort Collins Utilities as a temporary, hourly line groundworker (must meet required employment terms and conditions). Students will learn to: set, climb and remove poles string conductors set and install transformers and service lines perform high-voltage distribution convert overhead lines to underground and maintain underground systems maintain and install streetlights adhere to safety standards Applicants are not eligible if they are related to a Fort Collins Utilities’ Light and Power employee who would directly supervise and determine pay, dismiss or discipline them. Fort Collins Utilities offers an electric lineworker scholarship for tuition costs at Rocky Mountain Lineman School (RMLS) in Colorado Springs, CO, including, books, accessories and commercial drivers license training. The scholarship does not include payment of room or board expenses. Applications are due Sept. 1 to be eligible for the 15-week program (January through April). Submit application by Sept. 1.
