Native Plants and Trees The Washington Department of Natural Resource’s Webster Nursery south of Tumwater has seedlings of the most commonly planted tree species available in bundles of 100. They begin taking orders on the first business day of September, and they often sell out. The Washington Association of Conservation Districts (WACD) Plant Materials Center in Bow, WA has a wide variety of native trees and plants (bare root and live stake), usually in bundles of 25 or 50. They take orders year-round for distribution in winter and early spring. For more information call 360-757-1094 or visit http://www.wacdpmc.org/.
A good source for a variety of native trees and plants are the conservation district plant sales that are held each year, usually around the beginning of March. You may need to pre-order to guarantee availability of what you want, and the deadline can be as early as December. Bare root stock, live stakes, and seedlings are available through these sales, generally offering a low-cost alternative to nurseries.
